I recently came back. its still fun and certainly worth a try, I unsubbed to try RIFT, but will probably dislike RIFT and come back. BGs are definitely still fun  Population is lower, but clustered to one server. It feels higher than it did when I left (Catacombs release)

Since everyone is now on one server. When I log in the morning EST. I see 650+ peeps on. 4 PM I've seen 1051 and at night again 898+ and this is on Midgard only. Not sure of the other realms but probably much more than the numbers I provided.
You should have 14 days free available depending when you canceled the account. You dont need a credit card to make use of the trial.
Give it a try.

I would rather see DAoC recapture it's glory or keel over, than to watch it fade away like this, a mere shadow of its former self.
It's worse than watching an old person slowly whither, losing strength and purpose with each passing day.
It's so hard to get it off the hard drive, even when canceled.
Perhaps if it would just go away I could call in a priest and have it excorsized once and for all.

LOL I htink its so funny how you said it's hard to get it off your hard drive even when cancelled. I have a friend who bought a new laptop, hasn't played wow in years yet he installed because he said, "Just in case"
And I'm in the same boat. If I ever cancel my daoc account, it won't come off my drive and I would install and update ona new computer to be ready to go again.

What happened with the credit card incident? Not sure if you can post it here so if not, that's fine. Or was that ala the same thing with Warhammer where they duplicate billed? I remember a guildmate talking about that but good thing I was spared from the incident.

They overbilled many people, some for up to 8k, draining their checking accounts. They did not pay for any bank fees. Some folks who had been cancelled got their bank accounts and credit cards hit. They never really discovered the root cause.

Not true about the bank fees. I know many people who had their bank fee / NSF issues taken care of, in full. It was a hassle with a few of the banks, but was dealt with.
I'm not saying that Mythic/EA was blameless, but they did take care of the problem.
Angry, we know you hate Mythic because ToA ruined your life, but get the facts right.
