I would think a Thane would be a very good zerg surfing class. AoE hammers and some defense for when you get jumped and have no heals.

I had a blast on my shaman bot, a little bit of healing, rezzing, dotting and lots of shears and I was rr5 in a couple months just zerg surfing or defending keeps.
