if it's set for release in 2011...i wouldn't expect it to be that large of a game

It doesn't have to be super omfg big. Just make it good and people will stay - as pop. grows xpacs can add the new content. Safer to do this anyway...

When DAoC came out half the zones were unused...most xpac's just made it worse.

For the love of god people. Please flood every forum connected to that company to make a Dark Age of Camelot 2.

DAOC2, DAOC2, DAOC2. You know its what you all want and what the gaming industry needs. 3 realms FTW!

That 2011 comment had me wondering but who knows what is possible as tech changes . . . .

The following is a quote from verticalwire.

Said Darrin Hyrup, newly appointed VP and General Manager of Second Star Interactive, “The HeroEngine tools are amazing. They let us rapidly prototype and develop content faster than anything I have seen in all my years in game development. We’re excited by the possibilities offered by the engine, and are looking forward to launching games sooner than we ever thought was possible.”

Lori... Hmm, if I remember, wasn't it her own idea and design for the 'other' server set everyone was talking about?

You can get a sense of what Lori's like from this article she wrote about her memories of creating DAOC.

One of the things Lori says in the article is, "From concept to completion, Dark Age of Camelot took 18 months to develop."

From the article linked above:

Original Beta

In the original beta of Dark Age of Camelot, in addition to the development work I did, I manually read through every single beta application and hand-picked every single beta tester. I have every one of those applications still archived.

Wow, Lori really is cool. That is someone that enjoys what they do.

Yeah that jumped out at me too. She really cares about the people who play her games. She's an extraordinary person.

I didn't know the Hyrups had been around for that long of time at Mythic. I'm glad she paid homage to Rolemaster: Magestorm in her post there. I wonder if they understand the potential goldmine Mythic was once sitting on with it's basic concept. The idea of somehow tying MMORPG characteristics of building a character to level up (amongst other MMO traits, PvE, questing, acquiring gear), with competitive 3 sided arena based FPS gameplay for it's PvP.

Old Magestorm players would see the promise of a game like this. I don't know if they do though.
