As the title says, I heard so many good things about DAoC and been meaning to play although im late to join the game mainly becouse always been unsure on how big the active community is, but after seeing this forum it seems like its still very active for such a old game.

I just want some infomation like what Realm to play on? iv read abit on the forums like a small leveling guide.

and found only abit on classes for starters but im curiose to ask if i wanted a caster class and possible a hybrid caster what would be a nie class to play? doesnt have to the easit class although being new to DAoC would rather stil with the easy class to learn but harder to master.

Also if uoi could start playing again woild you? seeing as iv read raher alot of people going to Rift and War. so is it worth it?
im going to play the trial see how it is. of course the trial would not be enough to full;y understand the game or end game.

I would recommend the realm Albion. The Heretic is a great class for a new player. It has ranged damage and basic heals, but you can also choose to emphasize melee if you want to. The Friar is a nice melee class with basic healing, but it lacks ranged damage. The Wizard is great if you like to deal lots of damage from range, but it is very vulnerable on its own, and unlike the Heretic/Friar it does not have many self buffs. Buffs are crucial in this game. There are several ways to buff your character, but it always helps if you choose a class with self buffs, so that you only need a few additional buffs.

DAoC offers the best PvP and the best endgame.

The realm you chose really depends on what you want to play and your tastes.
You can probably try a few classes at low level and quickly find what's best suited for you.

For a caster class i would say try a Runie aka Runemaster(midgard), like a wizard with bolts, dd's and such, AND has castable speed unlike a wizard or eldritch!

If you want an Archer Class, of course the Scout is the best of all 3.

Assasin class, well NightShade(hibernia) is the fotm.

Tanks? Pick 1(Warrior, Armsman, Hero), they all about the same.

Healing Class, any of the 3(Healer, Cleric, Druid) take your pick

Hybrid Class, Warden is #1 for sure, Paladin is well...., and zerker or Valkyrie is nice

there's 44 different classs to play! hard to choose!

Hail, and welcome to DaoC.

A good litmus test for deciding whether you like the game, is to try the battlegrounds... it's a taste of what's out there in RvR.. in fact some people stay in battlegrounds due to its smaller area.

For new players, the greatest difficulty might be finding groups and getting buffs. These can be remedied in New Frontiers, Darkness Falls, and Labyrinth at level 50 or higher, but at that level, you'll run into a problem with templating (details on that later).

For these reasons I recommend the following classes based on realms:

Albion:
Scouts: A good starter class. They are quite powerful and finding a stealth group isn't too difficult at higher levels. They have self buffs which are helpful for Thidranki. They are a ranged class and don't really shine until they reach level 50.

Friars: A great starter class. These are great if you go full enhancement, full staff specialization. This is good for melee, but the great thing is.. you can always switch it up and lose your full staff specialization to go rejuvenization to see if you like healing instead of fighting.

Heretics: Another self buffing class. They are spellcasters but can also do backup heals. They are loved in groups at all levels and are my recommendation for Albion.

Midgard
Warlocks: If you don't care about grouping but want to be able to kill players, choose warlocks. They are despised by other realms because, if played properly (easy once you get used to it), they can cast four spells all at the same time. Unlike other casters, they also have the option of using uninterpretable spells. They do not have any buffs.. however, a few buffing potions are all these guys need.

Hunters: They are a ranged class pretty similar to scouts. However, they have pets which is a big advantage against casters and other archers.

One of the best things to do is find someone on the boards who'll help coach you through. If you're on albion, feel free to message me at any time for advice or templating questions (Numa-ywain1). A game as old as daoc is really great, but unfortunately, many players have already been established in this game and it may feel overwhelming and lifeless at times... but it's not! Find a guild as soon as possible, put up your /LFGuild command. Make sure the guild has an active alliance and they are sure to help!

In addition, feel free to send me a message here on the VN boards and I can help you out!

Albion is the preferable realm, but if you have your heart set on midgard, nothing is easier to play than a warlock.

As I said, however, if you choose albion, message me in game and I can set you up.
