I haven't played this game in a while, but loved every minute of it when I did. I was wondering if anyone has some advice for starting over from scratch?
Realm
I played a little of all three realms last time, and liked them all! What realm would you suggest and why? I like PVE and RVR. Don't mind soloing in PVE to level or farm, but I really don't like soloing in PVP/RVR. I prefer small groups or full groups.
Class
I'd like something that can do well in PVE on its own until I am able to make friends and find a guild. I've been thinking about classes like Warden, Valewalker, Friar, Sorceress, Cabalist, Shaman, Skald, Minstrel and Enchanter (I know, that's a lot to narrow down from!). Any suggestions on what might be easiest to jump into and play? I'm no expert in PVP, but I'd love to practice more.
Do players normally do trade skills as they level? Or do you get to 50 first before crafting? Does anyone level outside of the battlegrounds, or are those the best spots?
Sorry for so many questions and thank you in advance. I've been searching the forums for the last day or two trying to get as much information as I can. I plan to download the game tonight!

I'll make this brief.
Albs: They have the most people and there are plenty of guilds that will accept you. Most of the Alb classes are the easly played with low skill involved(several classes are Op'd).
Mids: This realm can Be quite populated also when the albs decide they want something different(cross realming). Mids are 2nd in population and have several Op'd classes(not as many at Albs).
Hibs: If you like playing the underdog this is the realm for you. Hib classes have been nerfed so bad nobody wants to play them.

Currenty playing Mid.....Bluebac/Skald....a few other Blues also!
Hib: Anything with Gliss or Zewk in the name is ME!!
My albs have been retired for 8 years..it's not enjoyable when there isn't a challenge.

Albs/Mids: The most populated and populations shift. Lots of albs/mids crossrealm and relic hop. Mids have more easymode classes (Valks, Warlocks, Bonedancers).
Hibs: They have one of the best stealthers (nightshades). Some classes are pretty good. The community on hib, however, is terrible. They belittle each other and are the most elitist of all three realms (which is saying a lot). Sucks, cause, when I was on Hib/Guin, it was full of the nicest players in the game.

I wouldn't say the community on hib is terrible. There are some good people there, but it is usually significantly out numbered in rvr, and lacks a big zerg guild or any dedicated rvr leaders, something both alb and mid have in abundance. For this reason, hibs are generally unorganized and most groups tend to do their own thing and aren't as open to new players.
From what I've heard, the scarlet knights in mid is a big guild and pretty helpful to new players. I don't know about alb guilds, but I believe they have similar guilds there.

I'm bummed to hear about Hibernia! I was leaning toward that, but now I think I might decide between Alb and Mid. I played them both only a little bit each the last time I played, so at least it will mostly be new to me.
Will I need a buff bot to be effective in leveling by myself and doing things solo (not pvp) at 50? I plan to group as much as I can, but I have weird hours sometimes, so I'd like to be able to be good on my own.
Any recommended classes in Alb or Mid for that kind of thing?
Thanks so much for your help.

I would suggest trying whatever class you want to play on any realm. If you dont like it try another. Go to the next realm until you figure out what class/realm you like and stick with what your good at. Plenty of people are there on any realm to help you out. You always get the elitists, jokers and people who always feel the need to make wise cracks to newbs. But dont let that discourage you. There are people out there that dont mind helping and answering questions. Just ask and ignore the bs answers and wise cracks and youll be good. Whatever you choose though, make a bot, level a farming toon/grp friendly toon, get a good guild thats newb friendly and over all, have fun. At lower levels in my opinion no classes are seriously fun until you get to the higher levels and get more abilities. Then your class starts to shine and be fun. Just keep it fun and youll be fine. Good luck

Thanks, I was worried one realm might be completely unpopulated. I think I'll try them based on whatever class looks most fun to play.
Thanks for the advice everyone. My download finally finished so I'll be on probably dying in the trial area for the next few days while I get used to things!

If people told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it? Do you have a mind of your own? I am sure Hib would love to have more people of your stature. We have enough of the Warder zerg.
