How do you play daoc, and why? (not a poll)
Bored at work, and I'm missing some DAOC so I'm shooting to spark up some conversation. How do you play daoc? What are you looking for when you log on? What's your favorite thing to do? Just share some general info about why you personally enjoy your gaming
Personally I like to solo or small man in rvr. I like the occassional group, but I'm not confident enough to group up too much anymore.i I feel like if I make even a tiny mistake, it let's the group down, and I don't want to ne responsible for making someones gaming experience less enjoyable. Especially strangers
I like some pve every now and then too, more so when I'm helping out new players. I definitely enjoy trying to mentor or help people out.
That's enough wall of text outta me. Time for you peoples to share

Really depends, like big time. Depending on what time of the day.
Sometimes when I log on; I'm looking to just make some plats. I'll check the CMs on each of the realms, hang out talking to people in the major areas to see if anyone is broadcasting any cheap items (I never PvE; and never will PvE, I definitely just buy cheap and of course, sell high.
When I'm looking to make some rps. Really depends again. I log into vent first normally.
When I see Tainerif is in, we're throwing down a smallman of epic proportions. But sometimes he's not really playing and doing some tests, then I'll run solo a bit, and jump around characters until I find something I want to play. If he's not on, I'll just run solo and whatever character I'm currently working on... or maybe level something I've never played.
Sometimes I just want to talk, and I'll get into alliance and chat, or I'll bug some low level (bothering to see if they're new/returning) and shoot the sh*t with them; of course ending with me helping them out (I hate PvE, but I definitely have unlimited plat at this point of time, so it's just helping people for me) unless they're some random dude making a FoTM class hehe.
I rarely group up anymore; I don't 8man, and pugs really bother me (mostly because instead of wanting to run around causing havoc and making realm points, they'd rather stick the BG, which just ends with me talking smack in BG/Alliance again rofl. And from time to time, I'll join the Mid BG, group up some lowly person LFG in alliance (When I see someone spamming: Healer lfg in alliance I feel bad) on my warlock and sap RPs from the BG and RP PL the person I've grouped up with.
Again, it all depends.

I solo exclusively. I don't do it for drama or VN prowess, or anything of the sort. I really do it because it's always been the playstyle that fits me the best.
I afk roughly 75% of the time that I'm logged into the game, and last I heard, groups don't like that. Really given my life, I log in and might get to play for one run or two runs, sometimes maybe even a couple hours in a row! Solo just fits that kind of play time.
But I've also always soloed because, at least back in the day, you aren't really supposed to. It goes against the grain of the game - which is a grouping, war MMO.
These days I sometimes think people solo because they think it makes them better than people that group and gives them material to brag about on the VNs... I do it because it's fun.

So far I can relate to all of ya.
Granas, you hit the nail on the head when you said you solo for fun. I've run into more than my share of times pre-ywain, and it always ended ugly for me. I do it because it's fun and I enjoy the challenge. Nothing more.
Vlad, I do things entirely based on my mood/whos playing, etc too. I really enjoy helping ease new players into the game, however possible.
But really, it's all about the fun and socializing. Even when solo, I try to ham it up in /region to get some random conversation going. It's more enjoyable to really take advantage of the MMO part of the MMO, and that's interacting.

I just go with the flow to be honest. Just the kind of the person I am. Sometimes I'll farm a little, play the market, go to the frontiers, explore (laby mainly) and mess around, make a new alt or whatever.
Generally I will craft a little every time I log on. Not always, but that is as close to a "routine" as I honestly want. The days of me playing hardcore are long gone, especially when it comes to DAoC. I've done everything for the most part. Lead various raids, both PvE and relic raids, been in big guilds, gank guilds, crafted and all that. Now though, I just do whatever, sometimes merely loggin on just to chat with some people.
It is all about fun. Screw the rest. I have a comfortable, and although usually very busy, and carefree life. I don't need a few people on the internet to validate me or my e-peen. I'm continent with just doing whatever it is I want to do, how I want to do it and stick with people who follow the same mentality.
I play for fun.

I've graviated towards whatever allows me to be laziest. I'm an ex elitest 8v8er from the OF days (and very early NF). In the old days, I was concerned about being "good" and wanted to be the highest rank in my class on my server. I was #3 on my cleric on Tristan when I quit playing him, and switched to minstrel. Got into the top 5 on tristan with her, when I decided enough was enough. I realized that RPs dont matter, and neither does being good at this game.
I spent several years in thid after that, because I still wanted to play, but I didnt want to be wound tight all the time trying to be perfect, and I didn't want to manage arts, RAs, /uses and other timers.
I got drug out of thid a bit ago, and started playing lab with the other "bad" players. I can get away with being lazy in there. I dont have to manage my timers as much, worry about my RAs or other active abilities...I just log in and play. The competition isn't perfect either, so I can get away with it.
So when my guildies are on, I play alb in the labby. If they arent on or doing something I dont want to, I play my nightshade in Thidranki solo (where I can still be lazy, not have to manage 50 poisoned weapons, charges, etc). The key is not having to press 50 buttons on 20 different hot bars and managing timers from all the different crap you have to have to be successful as a solo at 50.

I feel the same way about not wanting to juggle so many of the game functions that are required at level 50 to be elite.
After all these years I just still like the look and feel of the game itself, even some of its imperfections. It was my 1st MMO, and the only one I stuck with for more than 30 days.

Kind of like Crzyhawk, grouped a lot in OF and a bit in NF but mostly soloed just because I hated waiting all the time for either a 'perfect' group to form or just for other people. As a solo I can die and be back out into the action in less than a minute and if I die it's because of what I did right or wrong(or had no chance) not because someone went afk and didn't tell us or was a hopeless bad that never learned anything. Never really cared about RP, especially after RR5 or 6 but I liked good fights although I always hated dueling, prefering the surprise aspect of the game.
After a few years I also started getting lazier and just didn't feel like juggling all the timered abilities at level 50 so mostly played in the BG's.
