Why is vanish a spell when it is touted as an ability? ML10 cloak prevents you from using vanish. Please fix this.

Also, vanish needs a timer to clear effects on use and also the moment that the timer is about to expire.

Please fix this logical botch that has been bugged since you created it. Why is this so difficult?



If you have higher levels of the spell it works. There is a reason vanish has longer duration as the level increse. If Vanish 1 would be as good as Vanish 3 (or whatever it is now) there would be no point in getting higher levels of the RA.

One thing I will say that I've been saying for a while is that it would be nice if Vanish made you immune to stealth lore for as long as it disarmed you.

It's kind of cheesy when you blow Vanish and get away, and then all they need to do is pop SL and run in ever-widening circles, and there's no way for you to fight back when they find you.

Ever widing circle shouldn't be an issue, that's why you get speed while super-stealthed, you should be way too far away for SL to be a remotely effective counter to Vanish. (Which it simply isn't anymore.)

Even with MoS9 and SL on either my Scout or Hunter, I find only about 25-33% of Assassins Vanishing on me since the RA overhaul patch. (Was easily 90% before that patch!) Vanish works extremely well now, too well if you ask me. I've had some really ridiculous scenarios where Vanish was just pure cheese.

I don't think it was meant to grant 100% impunity from retribution after you manhandle a caster around a mob of visis. (And when you use it in an optimal scenario, it really does accomplish just that.)

I'm noticing at least a 500% increase in the use of Vanish since the RA patch, so I'm guessing it's working out quite well.


And btw SL negates SL, and if I'm not mistaken, so does the Inf DB ability?


The guard stuff is annoying, no argument there it should be fixed, but Silence working to prevent you from Vanishing is an absolutely valid counter IMHO. Just like stunning or also silencing someone whom you suspect is going to IP, SoS, Charge, etc. Silence works on everything, because just about everything in DAoC is really just a spell, but it's pretty short duration and doesn't impede your ability to play you character otherwise. (Well unless you're a pure nuker. )


When you consider that it Purges all snares & DoTs on you, cancels Archer shots that were already loosed and en route, and gives you speed while stealthed...it's really a pretty darn nice ability, and is actually now more reliable then most other getaways.

Vanish has always been a logical botch, just from the standpoint of it not clearing effects both on use and just before it wears off to compensate for server lag that has spells and arrows in the air with effects that will knock you out of stealth once vanish wears off.

It also has had various results with guards and pets after each patch.

It really is a mess but it needs to be fixed, now more than ever because people are zerging more than ever before.



remove vanish from the game. Fixed!
