One problem this thread addresses is how do I function at lvl 40+.

I think that the players helping Mythic should have encouraged a quest at lvl 40
that helped with this. Something like the lvl 5 player quest to get a kill while in a group. It could have been something like your trainer says go out to NF, get in group, teleport to X, fight realm guard etc.

Couple other questions. There needs to be a clear guide for newer players its insane to try and figure out what you need to do next lol.

I know about Dragon scales and I already farmed a few pieces of the armor and bought a whole new set of gear on the AH. I still got pretty stomped by a few stealthies in upplands before I even knew what hit me.

What should I be doing at 50 to try and improve my character to not die in under 5 seconds? It looks like dragon armor is not enough lol. I have heard of Artifacts? And I know I got the champ level quest and have a bit of xp in that.

What would you recomend me do to improve my characters rvr skills the most? Master Levels, Champ levels, Artifacts, keep trying to improve gear past dragon scale stuff, just suck it up and get some RRs? I know all these would help, but which would help the most?

Thanks!

The level 40 mount can be purchased in the Lord room in Jordheim.

go to the class boards for template advice. You'll get much more help there.

if I recall you are a Thane; you will have a VERY hard time soloing. I highly recommend grouping.

Once you are RR5+, have a very good template, and understand all game mechanics I would suggest attempting to solo. Even then, you will have a VERY difficult time as a thane.

Don't worry so much about the equipment for now. I'd suggest finding then joining the frontier battle group and tagging along with that zerg where ever they go. Usually you can get into a group by asking in the BG. You just need experience running in a group, sticking together, not running off on your own, learning to trust your healer, etc.

Just my opinion.

The thing you will find about dying is that most of the time if you are going to die it's going to happen fast. Often very fast. The same thing goes for killing stuff. Many times you will kill people before they have really done anything to fight back.

The rare cases are where things are balanced enough that the fight takes awhile. (For a melee character this dynamic often drives people toward duels if for nothing else to get an idea of how their toon performs)

I think that doing /bg who and joining whoever is running a battlegroup on mid and trying to get a group within the bg will probably benefit you the most for a little while.

ok so general thought seems to go get more RRs before champ or master levels for a faster/noticeable increase to pvp/rvr skills? I will try /bg who .... i never knew this was a command in game to see who is in a battlegroup.

No buffbot.

Work on cl's / ml's first - get that out of the way. In the meantime, go to the mid melee boards and search about 40 pages back to find templates that do not require ML10 gear (Astral). They will be dragon gear heavy - but dragon gear is pretty easy to get these days. Find a template that you'll be able to put together from slayer/dragon/toa gear. This will be your starter template. Also, if you can find Eithor in game, iirc he was the Thane tl for a long time. Very helpful guy and could probably point you in the right direction as far as specs, templates and strategy.

To learn more about artifacts and master levels google vision of sages. Its dedicated to all things toa. In the meantime, just run w/ the zerg and use your ae hammers!

Ok just to let you know you are AWESOME for supplying that Vision of Sages site. It has been so helpful to help me learn about Artifacts and I am glad to say I now have most of them i want or need! =)

Also good call on the MLs and Champ levels.... now while leveling up my artis I am getting glass for MLs and xp for Champ levels. Its surprisingly fun to kill yellow-orange cons to get glass from all the while still getting xp for artis/champ.

Once I have gotten a full set of Dragon/Arti armor and a champ level / ML I think I will go out and finally rvr some to try and get RRs.

I wouldn't worry too much about the ML/CL's - once you have the equipment you need i'd just go RvR. You will get ML XP in RvR, you will get CL XP in RvR, you will get BP's in RvR to purchase ML's (among other things).

MLs/CLs are definitely an advantage but are not so important that you cannot RvR without them.
