Howdy folks!

This is something of an experiment I tried with my guild on a super limited base to add some fun back into the game. I came back a few months ago and since have leveled like 4 characters to 50, farmed thousands of scales and glass and already started to get kind of bored of a level/farming push. So as a side fun little project I outlined the basics for an 'Oldschool' leveling group, that I thought I'd share with ya'll for something of a change of pace..

* Preferably all of the characters participating are all roughly the same level and you play only the oldschool characters together (or mostly if folks play on random schedules)

* No bots are used

* No Task Dungeons, Aurulite Instances, Battleground XP quests, Catacombs or Shrouded Isles (lesser though this I think) are used to level in. This means you only level in the 'Old World' it's dungeons (Like Mithra, Spindlehalla, or Coruscating Mines) and Darkness Falls.

* No character equipment transfers of gold, equipment, items, scales/Aurulite, Seals or Glass.

* No accepting of freebie items from your trainer.

* Crafting of gear is acceptable, however the 'oldschool' character has to pay the material costs and it cannot be spellcrafted, Alchemized or be Sigil/Dragonsworn.

* Nothing can be purchased from a Consignment merchant (that may be reviewed when the average group level gets around 40ish, but there will still be item restrictions)

* A character can 'farm' for gear, however /xp off has to be used. This way a character can try to get gear to compensate for the slow drop rates vs extremely fast leveling.

* Characters can also buy gear from merchants, this will help fill in gaps, though it is pretty expensive!

* Epics are highly encouraged as it gives jewelery to help fill in large gaps in equipment.

It is a fun little project to do on the side, opposed to the uber fast gear/leveling chase and we had our first session the other day. We keep it small and only play in an hour or 2 segment, but it was a heck of a lot of fun. Nothing like getting excited over crappy item drops, since it is better than what you currently have. Overall the spirit of the 'law' has to apply for it to be really but long as folks have fun, that is what counts. We explored Mithra and some of Camelot Hills, saw and fought things we never thought'd we'd encounter again and over all just had a great time.

I though I would share this with you folks because it is a great way to relive some of the old game that most of us played so long ago. Have fun, and never forget the Pygmies, Scags, 'The Pit' and other old stuff not seen for years.

Remember the last rule though... have fun!

Its pretty fun to go back and read the old patch notes, even ones right after launch. Here is the link, scroll all the way to the bottom.

I always thought it was funny reading about the 43rd cleric with 1.2k hitpoints getting killed by a 50th archer sending a letter to Sanya, then archers getting nerfed into the ground. Heh.

I thought it was extremely bad what they did to scouts. I had been in other game communities and even though scouts obviously needed some nerf they ruined them completely. It was funny because me and my friends that came over from AC (1) thought the community would hold the devs accountable. Little did we expect the degree of agentism that happened. The majority laughed at the people who played scouts, never realizing it could be their turn next. To me that was hilarious indeed.

I just made a new smite cleric the other day. I guess I am doing this.

Level 15 in like 3 hours and killing is easy. I guess this is most difficult for melee classes.

Just saying try this on Mordred cause you may not have the available 50's to "cheat" and you have all three realms to explore. At 50 we could do some fun suff as well!
