Returning player whos trying to template a toon in hib for the first time. However I'm now realizing it takes like 30,000+ omfg pieces of glass to buy ml1 to ml10 and get arties/scrolls plus like 100 plat to buy all the other gear.


What's the most effecient way for a chanter/ani with bot to farm this stuff? And what tips do you have for fighting off the mindnumbing boredom of farming?

One easy way to get ML10 is to just use BP's from RvR. You'll be ML10 at about RR5.

-ML7 dungeon is decent glass farming. I've heard there are some other ML encounters that are easy glass such as Colossus.

-Killing afrits is good, mainly if you trinket.

-Get all good Laby OTD's can make you some decent cash. Don't forget to bring bot for the for extra OTD's.

-Farming dragon scales can be good if you know a decent spot (I don't know hib).

-ML10 raids, if you are ML9, can make you some money from selling items you won't be using.


I'm sure people could provide better details given the realm / group setup.


Fighting off boredom? I'd say just do something that isn't completely repetitive and give yourself a challenge.

You really shouldn't have to farm much/long to build a decent starter template.

Farming gold/glass:

Various places to farm glass:

Thusia Nesos (Located in Typhon's Reach):
Glass drop: stacks of 10 glass (Usually you'll get about 40 glass per kill)
Mob Con: Orange (semi-easy to kill)
Travel: 1-5 minutes (they're all bunched up in camps.. just look for anything that's worth Master Level xp)
These mobs will con orange to you. You will likely have to kill one at a time as they are near high level mobs and using your damage shield will only draw aggro to the named mobs in the various camps. This is probably better for Rangers, but I have seen some casters manage it well (just bring lots of power potions and switch to light spec).

Stygia Delta:
Glass drop: 200 per kill
Mob con: Purple (semi-difficult to kill) may take a few minutes
Travel: 10 - 15 minutes (lots of running)
Aww, the quiet deserts of Stygia! Use /map and search anywhere there are rocks, there are usually various sizes of scorpions (baby scorpions, adult scorpions, Colossals). They are also accompanied by scarabs. There is one camp directly north (I think) of the haven inside a valley. Try not to kill any non-Colossals scorpions because they eat the scarabs and grow.. so an adult laying around the rock just might turn into a Colossal when you come back a few minutes later. Colossals are what you want to kill and using damage shield would be your best bet.. just make sure you are away from any other scorpions so they don't kill your focus. This is a pretty camped area, but with speed and some water potions (you'll have to swim and roam across the river to find more Colossals).

Oceanus Hesperos
Glass drop: 100 per kill
Mob con: Blue (takes less than 1 minute to kill)
Travel: About 1 minute
Head straight to either the Gem of Lost Memories encounter or the Orion's Belt encounter. Both can be killed really quickly and drop 100 glass.

Lethos (Located under dungeons of Atlantis, Aerus)
Glass drop: 100 glass
Mob con: Purple (difficult to kill) may take about 5 or more minutes
Travel time: About 1 minute
Lethos is a tough guy and will require a lot of work.. first clear aggro. There are usually 2 grape snakes. Place your bot on the rock wall to the side. Get your pet to aggro the Red con advisor directly ahead of you. It drops bad loot and very little glass. Then head after Lethos, bring your bot up the sidewalk outside the entrance with Lethos. Aggro with pet and damage shield for the win. The glass is kind of bad, but there's a chance you may get Belt of Heavenly Bodies (worth a few plat) or Bracer of Heavenly Bodies (which is worth several plat depending on how farmed it is).

Ancient Kings (Located under dungeons of Atlantis, Aerus):
Glass drop: 100 glass
Mob con: Purple (semi-easy to kill but will take a while). It's tethered so as long as your bot can heal from a distance there's no problem with this mob. Might take about 5 minutes per kill.
Travel time: 1 minute
Each of the named sphinxes also grant 100 glass each and with damage shield and pet you should be fine. If it's your first ML trial they have a chance to drop some really nice loot you can sell. They will also drop stardrops which go for about 1-5 plat depending on housing (great for buffbots).


Mesothelasa:
Glass drop: 200 per kill
Mob con: Blue -even a battle bard can kill this
Travel time: Solo: 10-15 minutes per kill, Group: 1 minute
Leave bot at 27K, 25K and have bot speak with Lorna. She'll give you directions of the thief.

It's a lot better if you had multiple people with you as you can camp each of those spots and have your bot retrieve a new quest. The mob is blue con and really easy to kill.


Other ways to earn cash
In addition to these, afrits can also be fun to farm, but glass is less consistent and you will want to hit an ML10 raid as soon as possible. They drop items that are worth what you might spend weeks to earn farming glass. In addition to this, if you can find someone to help you, farm Morgif (Located at Temple of Laresh) in Labyrinth. Greater Focal Mythral, affectionately known as GFM, is worth about 40 plat (more depending on availabilty) and is absolutely necessary if you want your caster to take part of an effective ML10 raid.

Master Afrits are incredible money if you have access to a class/bot that can chain kill them.

Advertise that you WTB ML 1-10 - on Mid it costs 10p or so... that will save you alot of glass which is going for 5000 for 7-8plat at least on Mid.

You can farm ML XP in ML 7 in a few hours (4-5) or try and buy the 68 ML XP scrolls which is 6800 glass or 6800 BPs.

How is ML1-10 10p? Last I knew BP's sold for about 1g/pc. which means near 30p.

Honestly I have no idea why BPs are so cheap, but there has been a couple guys on Mid:
