Topic of the Week: What brought you to DAOC? |
I worked over nights at a tech support call center for a dialup ISP in michigan. Few guys there played it while we worked to stay away during the over night shift. After watching them play for a couple weeks i got a copy of it myself.. 9 years later im still playing the same account

I was introduced to DAOC, and mmorpg's in general through an old tv show on G4 called Portal.
I was in between getting either Asheron's call, or DAOC.
"........................." I ended up getting DAOC because of a segment they should about armor dying, and talked about how the rich people were able to afford the purple and black dyes, lol.
The show is no longer aired, and the episodes are hard to come by since G4 never released them on to DVD or anything.
Some episodes were recorded when they ran them on some G4 rewind black a few years ago, but not all of the were shown.

Instead of reminiscing, how about you direct your energy to get Mythic to sort out their servers etc. so we can play in the evening without lag?

I met Dryt back in June of 2004, and he was playing daoc, he told me I should try so I figured I would. He was playing on Hib at the time and was trying to get me to play a Druid .. wasn't happening. I made my vamp and fell in love .. and have been playing since. We now are on Alb, and have been for a few years. We got married last June, and gaming together does make a difference. For the wives who don't play .. if you can't beat them, join them .. you spend more time together and there is less arguing

A friend at work had been telling me about the game for 6 months and it sounded like a lot of fun. I didn't wanna play because it costed money to play,so after a while,he lent me his account to try it and after about 5 min playing the game I was hooked,this was right after si was released.
What kept me playing was 3 realms,realm pride,df and the rvr exprience was a blast.
I had a lot of great times and memories.
I have returned a few times and I get too frustrated at too many things.
I don't feel I can return and enjoy the game until several things are addressed.

I knew some guys that played EQ. I thought it sounded interesting but the idea of just killing monsters wasn't very appealing to me. I was in high school at the time and worked at a book/music/video store and randomly picked up some PC magazine and read about DAoC being focused on killing other people. So I picked it up at launch just to try it out. I've been off and on ever since.
