Aion had this problem. NCSOFT found the source (a comcast hub close to Austin Texas), worked to route traffic around it and is now working with comcast to fix the root cause. That's what decent, customer oriented companies do.

I always tought that the hardware upgrade they did months ago was a downgrade instead. Not only the frontier is full of ghosts but now many regions fail to load and swapping items is slower. Also the game shuts down randomly.

It probably was a downgrade, which also accounts for the new Camelotherald.com not letting you view character and realm information or look up empty housing lots. I'm not a computer expert, but this type of non-static content must involve some type of processing to render. The new Camelotherald.com is effectively nothing more than a blog and even I could recreate it in less than 2 hours with a modified Blogspot.com template.
