Some of this "features" may be nice to have, some other maybe not.
The ingame Mail would be nice only for messages. As for attachements or trade you got the CMs in housing.
A larger "group" window i would think more disturbing than helping. I know i run a normal 19" LCD with 1280x1024 and there is often not enough place on the screen.
The Bufficons are ok as they are right now. The only thing i could think of are two columns instead of one. One for positive effects, one for negatve.

battlegroups can have alot more then 24 members a battlegroup window isnt feasible...
i've always been against mailing items in all games... its stupid.
point and click loot interfaces drive me insane, i much prefer daoc's easy 2 key system, target nearest object, pick it up.... wich i always bound to h and g, so hg is easier then lame ass point and click looting
the need, greed, pass loot system is complete failure, everyone just hits need... even if they dont need it...
only idiots and the rare honest person hits greed or pass... and sense your wanting to avoid loot ninjas those people didnt ninja loot anyways, but the loot ninjas will be hitting need and still competing against you at random for the item, so the system fails...
it just complicates the situation without fixing any of the problems.

Why? Because this is a 10 year old game that isn't WAR....
On another note - I don't want a mail system however an "Account Vault" would be nice in order to xfer items between toons easily without relying and trusting another player to help you do so.
A better "lfg" would also be nice but at this stage of the game I don't think it will be used. /reg /lfg are the quickest way of finding groups

A solution to that would be to grant people a bonus to their score rolled for the next Need they click based on how many items they click Pass on, half that buff if they click on Greed, and none if they click on Need. So I don't need the first 5 items, and click Pass, knowing I am building up a buff for the item I do want when it comes up, then I do click Greed on one item I would like to have, and score a lesser bonus. Finally when an item I really want comes up, I click on Need, and although I get no bonus, the built up benefit from my previous Pass and Greed clicks gives me an edge over others who were less restrained.
Likewise if no one wants an item and everyone clicks Pass, it goes to the person who does decide they need it, so you can use the same system to try to get more of the less desirable items. Of course you are in competition with everyone else gaming the same system but at least people would think about what they are doing rather than just clicking Need by reflex.

Need/Greed won't work in this game on the basis the items aren't BoP
People will just roll need for their mates and trade it over later, defies the point.

I think the need/greed stuff is just the stupidest thing ever. Not because the system is so dumb but because almost every single noob, to a MMO that uses need/greed, misunderstands the wording. When growing up most people are taught that being ‘greedy’ is bad and ‘needing’ something is ok so everyone that is a noob always selects ‘need’ and sometimes ‘pass’. It becomes a fight with every noob to get them to stop hitting ‘need’ all the time.
There should be only two buttons. “Roll†on the item or “Pass†on the item.
It should be the leader that gets to select if the group should be a “free for all†where players can roll on anything or the leader selects if players in the group can only “roll on usable items only†where if a players character can’t use the item they can’t roll on it.
Once the group leader sets up how the loot system for the group will work, the selection is locked in until the group disbands. Once the selection is locked in then everyone in the group can view the selection so that no one can say they were confused.
I do like jhonto’s suggestion where those that select pass will build points toward a better roll the next time they decide to roll on an item. I would add that if everyone passes then everyone gets a bump to the bonus points and the item goes as if everyone said “Rollâ€.
As for the mail, the game needs mail WITH packages/items or the game needs an account vault which lets players move things between alts. It needs one or the other.

roll/pass system still has the flaw of mouse dependency unless the programmers add hot keys.... every action should have a /command and/or hot key associated with it.. i cant stand all the mouse clicking games make us do these days it drives me insane...
but yes jhonto's suggestion is a nice solution to the everyone clicking "need" for everything.
