Question About EA's Policy on Character Name Changes

Greetings..
I am a soon to be returning player and I have a Merc who's name I have come to hate; what was I thinking! Nevertheless, I was wondering what the process is to ask EA/Mythic for a name change. I am assuming I will need to grovel and plead if I stand any chance at all.

They won't change any name that doesn't break the ToS or hasn't been appealed like 20 times by different accounts. Then, too top it off, you might get a chance to pick the new name, but more often than not you'll get whatever the CSR wants to give you that day.

Might as well give it a try... go to Cammy and ask everyone to appeal your name. You might get lucky.

Is the account name on ywain already?
If its on Devon etc then I know how you can fix it

THIS!!!
If you haven't transderred the characters over to ywain server yet, then you are in luck
BEFORE transferring over make a new character on ywain with your charaters name (this is the same name as the character whos name you'd like to change)
then go ahead and make the character transfer, the system will see that your name has already been taken and assign your character a temp name with numbers at the end of it, example: charle --> charle118
log into your new server, your character should be listed with the #extension, after you click play, a window will appear for you to rename your character /end

Some smart people here. I used that trick to rename about 20 characters.
Also, /freelevel 20.

have you transferred to Ywain yet? If your Merc is still on one of the archives servers, you can change your name. All you gotta do is FIRST create a brand new character on Ywain with the same name as your merc, THEN transfer the merc over, you will be forced to rename.
This will be your only chance ever to rename that character.
