You create a new inf and level him to Cathal Valley by doing the quests and RvRing in the lower BGs. It shouldn't take too long.

And now that it has been nerfed, just how little gold it is awarding. Now its 88g instead of 250g.

I thought they had done something right finally. This game is so equipment dependent and the required stuff sells for so many plats I thought there was no solution for a new player/newly returned player to participate on an equal footing without spending 3 months farming. Then they produce the quests in Cathal Valley and I thought to myself that someone had twigged on a solution: let us earn enough to template a character easily with a bit of effort and at the same time get enough RPs to be RR5 or so by the time we emerge into RvR on the frontiers. Someone did it right for a change at Mythic.

But no, it seems it was overpowered to let people catch up by some means. Now I am forced to return to salvaging from seals and farming in TOA again (slowly since I have only 1 account). In another 4 months or so I should have enough to finish templating most of my 50s, but not my SB. Give it another year and I might get him set up, if I am still playing. As it stands, the aurulite you get from the quest is likely worth more than the gold received. I expect that to be nerfed as well soon, if they haven't done it already.

They needed to nerf the gold... if everyone had more money, template items would just cost that much more.

They need to come up with a new set of armor for each realm, plus other equipment that is slightly worse than anything else out there, and available only from NPC merchants for a fixed price that is reasonable, much like the current Aurulite stuff from the BGs but a bit better. Then if you want to template your toon you can do so, for say around 10p total. If you have to have the absolute best then you can go spend hundreds of plat on the IWIN gear out there. Right now a new player coming to this game will likely quit when they realize:
a) how important the right template gear is, and
b) how long its going to take to farm for it (hint: if you are starting from scratch and knowing nothing about this game, it will take months to gear up)
