When you roam low traffic areas it could sometimes take a long while before you find someone you can fight. Then when you do, chances are many more are right behind them ready to run you down. You die, release, rebuff, ride on a boat and so on all over again. Meanwhile you killed one person who was rez sick for 500ish RPs and spent an hour of your life.

In high traffic zones it's usually fast to get there, get a kill or two but expectations are low so maybe that's why people do that.

Because there is no reason to be there. Your all right about the quests however. Make a reason to be there and there will be people there. I love it when ports are cut and everyone is running a small distance to docks deep in alb or hib cause that means I can pretty much set up shop between the dock and keep and pick off solo/duos all day long with very little challenge.

Because it isn't fun. Aside from the time between fights, if all the soloers ran low traffic areas, they'd only fight each other. No one wants to run around fighting only a handful of people with all kinds of rules about what can and can't be done. It would just devolve into /bow duels until people got bored and went back to roaming high traffic areas, just like you often see at off peak times with a bunch of tanks sitting on a bridge dueling.

they could do camp rp bonuses. So if in a zone are a lot of kills, rp bonus goes down (to 90% of now maybe). In other zones where nearly no rps got earned you get a big bonus (120%). Every 5 minutes the rps earned in this zone coud get checked and the bonus adjusted.

Don't like the quest stuff - want fights not an easy kill.

Takes too long to get there compared to the high traffic areas, and when you do, there's no one there.

Because soloers like to whine in region when they get ran the f over so so everyone knows how leet they are for soloing. Same way they complain when the zergers break ports sayin it's killing the action. They are attracted to zergs like flies to garbage.

The solo game would be a lot better on this game wo all of the hypocracy. The title made the solo game a chest pounders game instead of what it used to be in of just a challenge. It was way harder to solo in old emain. Yet people Did it and I never saw spam in region zomg 8 v1 cowards blah blah.

I don't know what you mean by easy kill. The quests would merely serve as small incentives to go somewhere and keep roaming. The ultimate goal would still be to fight enemy players. Encounters with enemies would be much more natural/spontaneus because of the travelling involved, and the quests would add a little intensity (as opposed to a relaxed dueling environment where players /bow etc).

As a pure soloer I've done that for my entire time playing DAoC. I'd run around in the dead zones hoping for some small fights, usually found nothing then would run the periphery of the hot spots. The big problem you have is even if you do find a fight in the dead zones as soon as others see the spam they flock to the area in groups to get an easy kill. Because of this I'd usually get one or two kills if lucky then have to move to a different area, this usually resulted in hours played for a handful of fights, kind of boring in my books.

Do you use a bot? cause then you are not a "pure soloer"

You will have to excuse if this has already been answered.. but I skipped the wall of replies to give my .02.

For 7 out of the 10 years I played its always been a sneak. I find through the years as expansions have come out.. ports have gone away.. mounts introduced.. etc etc, your best bang for the buck is the following for sneak and viz classes.. for me solo.

Sneak Class:
POC
Labby
Any active dock area where stragglers are trying to catch up to action.
Inside major keeps where people are porting in 1 by 1
Leveling or grinding areas

Viz Classes:
POC
Docks using pots for cover and sitting under water waiting
Leveling or grinding areas

A lot of it depends on your class and what you can get away with. Overall.. in frontier.. hit up all the good XP camps for the opposite realms. Patrol the areas between say 3 and you should always find a stray or 2-3 you might be able to get the jump on.

Hope that helps.

I think that the quests if NF would be fun. Only problem would be campers, same as Halloween and Christmas quests. A good solution would be to put at each spawn, something like the entrance monitor in celestus. Make it effect a 2-3k radius from the spawn and do like 1k+ in damage every now and then. At least it would give people that aren't zerging a fighting chance. Also, make it so you are not effected by it in combat to help prevent people from exploiting it. Just my .02
