1. Make the game F2P.
2. Add an option in the cash shop that gives you capped buffs from the NPC buffers.
3. Profit!

I would like that! Implement it as buffs that would auto-spawn on your chars 1m or so after res ...

Remove buffs other than self buffs from all classes. This would probably turn the game upside down with all the class changes they would have to make, and all the changes to the augmentation lines of the healer/buffer classes. I know its late in the game for this, but I see it as the only alternative to just taking out the buff bonus % from toa.

If left in its current state the heal proc alone is gunna ruin alot of peoples fun. Some say its not a big deal if you do or don't have it. It WILL change the outcome of MANY fights in solo. In 8v8 and small man it may not be a big deal.

I know mythic doesn't revolve the game around solo play, so this is really not a valid argument in their eyes. Many soloers that don't want to pay for that 2nd and 3rd account to have full buffs and the heal proc will possibly just up and quit. I know that if everyone has this proc up and it changes the outcome of too many fights, it will likely cause me to quit cause the game would no longer be any fun.

I don't mind losing on an even playing field, but for something that I can't help but to pay another 32 bucks a month to compete will just turn me off to the game. I have played this game for 10 years and if this proc is released and it unbalances things really badly for the solo game, as I think it will, I will likely find a new game for good. There are alot of good games to choose from.

I really want to keep playing this game so we will see how it goes. I have never been a huge fan of 8v8 other than my sham so to go back to 8v8 will just not cut it for me.

I think they need to take away the heal proc completely other than for friars or make it group only and drop when disbanded. The differences in buffs from a bot and npc CAN be tolerated imo.

I used to run two bots always and now that we have spec af/haste I will not be running ANY bots. I don't farm pve anymore these days so no need for a bot account now. I'm sick of paying 48 bucks a month or whatever it is that I paid and used 2 or 3 comps to run an MMO.

anything but being online.

online = playing, if someone likes to log in and do nothing, but on lets say a mauler, its the same thing, just that i can take advantage of a bots buffs.

EDIT!

your analogy changes nothing but values, instead of my bot giving me X to stats its now Y, its the same thing. if your crying that buffs make the haves vs the have not stronger, well again, one is paying double the money, why should we be on the same playing field? if it makes you feel better, ill make a macro that rotates inspiring speeches at portal keeps to rally the troops, then he wont be "doing nothing"

same reason i never understood how people could cry at the farmers and what not, their argument, "its not fair that they have all day to play! and i don't! i want the same stuff as them!"

if someones gonna put in 10 hours of gaming a day vs your 2, why should you both get the same amount of stuff?

if i'm going log in 2 accounts and pay for them, why should i be forced to not use it to my benefit simply because someone else cannot log in another account?

You (and the maker of the graphs) seems to be making the mistake of equating "subscriptions" with "players".

I should point out that I normally pay in six month intervals, rather than monthly.
Which means that I could quit playing the game entirely tomorrow, and it wouldn't show up as a lost subscription for, well, about four months, since I saw the DAoC bill on last month's credit card statement.

In other words, it is quite likely that many of the subscriptions that were lost when WoW went live represent people who had quit playing before that, but left the subscription running since they had nothing else to do with their time.
An example would be a guild I was in at the time of ToA. They generally enjoyed ToA, but hated NF. Soon as NF hit the streets, they stopped playing. But it was four or five months later before one of the GMs logged on, promoted me to GM, and said the lot of them were gone forever....

Note that I'm in chemotherapy right now. I feel like crap a lot of the time, and don't play much at all. But I'm not going to let the subscription lapse, because I might feel manic some night (likely NOV 1 will be the next time), and want to play.

Because it's a game. If all it comes down to is who can pay the most money to win, then it's not a valid contest. You might as well install a credit card machine at the PK gates.

No-one cares if someone wants to use their bot in PVE to farm all day and obtain the best templates for RvR. Fine. A player without a bot can do this too if they put the time in, grouping with others where necessary. But when the same bot is used in RvR it gives an unfair advantage that someone without a bot cannot replicate. There is NO CONTEST between someone buffed by a bot and someone unbuffed. A game that is NO CONTEST is not a game. Period. End of.

Buff npcs are a step in the right direction, but they still don't go far enough. Only when they do will people stop banging on about this issue.

If you own a bot, I really don't see what you are worried about if buff NPCs give buffbot equivalent buffs. You want a fair fight where skills dictate the outcome, right? You will still have your bot for PVE farming and building the perfect template, something which in itself will still give you the edge in most fights.

There's no need to be rude really

Sure, not many people will have quit immediately on the days TOA/NF/wow was released, but 50k subscriptions within 3-4 months of wow? As it was said above, many people will have stopped playing, but perhaps left their subs active (or were on 3/6 month subs), I for one did.

TOA/NF was a delayed effect, lots of people didn't mind it at first, but after years of grinding away, people began to hate it, and wow was an easy solution for that. Again, not something that happened instantly, but if you believe that this has not contributed to the decline in population...

WoW was a good alternative for a game that had turned to shit, but was unfortunately the only half decent MMO at the time. Not everyone who quit however, went to play wow, many just stopped playing because they were sick of the way the game had gone.

I can't stand this mentality PowPow.

You know that if you pay for 8 accounts, and then somehow use 8 accounts to play 8 characters at once, that should be fully within your power.

But buffing a character and taking him out to RvR gives the bonuses of two characters (roughly speaking), oh, but where is one of them? sitting in the safety of a border keep. This is not the same as paying for 2 accounts, and then playing 2 of them. Its a consequence of how they made buffs work. They made it so that one player can give strength to another player without doing anything but being online.

Ok, so you still disagree with me? Why not let every inactive bot that you have sitting at a border keep increase a players stats by 10%? How could this be a bad idea, if someone wants to pay for 15 accounts, then they deserve to have 15x the benefit right? 15x the benefit from playing 1 character while 14 of them sit at the border keep? You still might agree with this but you can't argue that its good for the game. It's like having a competition to see how high people can jump but you don't put any restrictions on the fact that you are allowed to use a rocket ship if you are rich enough to afford one. Well ok, but who's gonna take part in that competition, except for the very dedicated few who buy a rocket ship, and then brag that they can reach higher than those who just use a pair of running shoes.

I would never ever argue against allowing people to play two or more accounts accounts at once at get the exact same benefit as if that many people were playing the same number of characters. But you can change the way buffs work, and people will still get the advantage if they want to play two people at once. If people took their buffbots into the battlefield with them, then things would be different, because when an unbuffed person goes against a person and his buffbot, he should lose, but on the odd chance he wins he'll get the realm points of 2 characters, not just 1.

They did this it was called Classic Servers. I am pretty sure there is a reason it was merged into the Ywain clump. People complain all the time about Bots but in the end as much as they complain how many of you steped up and defended Classic servers when the merger was happening. There is a reason that the merger didn't go with classic rule set. ToA/Bots won out in the end because less people wanted the ranged buffs, no toa rule sets. I am sorry that it didn't work out in your favor guys, but in the end the majority won out. Perhaps people should have spent time a few years back trying to recruit to classic servers not and this might have swung the other way.

And the reason for merging to botted servers instead of Classic wasn't that there were more players on botted servers, it's that there were more ACCOUNTS there. Mythic wasn't about to make a move that would cause a lot of players to cancel their bot accounts.

And there were more accounts because most everyone had two or more on the bot servers....

Note that Classic generally, through most of its life, had about 40% of the population of DAoC on it/them. And this in spite of the fact that there were very few bot accounts, and everyone had to start over from scratch to play there.

I could be wrong, but didn't something happen that caused a big drop on the classic server? I played on the classic server and there were lots of people on it and I had to take a 3 month break and when I came back the server was pretty dead and I remember someone in my guild at the time said there was a change and alot of people left but I don't remember what it was since it happened while I was away.
