1. No, you are not being trolled. That is original DAoC frontiers under the crysis2 engine. Sad, sad day. This is almost as bad as someone not knowing who Mr Wizard was.
2. Not a kid, and no ... you don't seem to understand or have never played any other game with strafing. If you are moving forward at 1 u/s and strafe in DAoC you end up moving almost completely sideways with hardly any forward movement at all. In other games you will either still move forward at 1 u/s and to the side at 1 u/s or you will move 1 u/s along the hypotenuses (0.707x , 0.707y). Hell, load up doom ffs and press forward and strafe at the same time and see what happens and you will see what I am talking about in comparison.

You could have reactionaries like "being hit by a bolt", and have a spell that returns the bolt fire or something. Ok so this would make bolts useless but an interesting idea. You could do lots of reactionaries and even positionals too, to use spells on people running away. Only thing is that I don't think base damage would be reasonable.. like you shouldn't go into combat with someone and cast a baseline DD every 2.5 seconds when u have nothing better to do.

But then again, what advantage does this have over the current system, except for making it harder to use? beats me. Also i'm clearly not suggesting they revamp the entire spell system, just saying you could do some cool things just by changing animations, reactionaries, and adding a range variable on the current melee system.



Its a debate I had on the TL forums years ago ... Its impossible to balance the melee and caster systems because they are completely different from one another. Use a single system and it becomes much easier to balance things. Little late now, but would have been nice at release.

3. Looks like you click or use many of the default keys still. There's plenty of room for binds, especially for melee classes, if you use your mind and figure out an efficient setup :>.

I was really hoping for a new new frontiers. RVRing in the same area for 8 years is pretty boring.
