Hey guys

Since the game-support of DAoC doesnt reply to my questions I try it this way:

I have a big question concerning a DAoC-ingame-mechanic

How is actually the "defense penetration" working on DAoC in detail?
With "defense penetration" I mean that the "normal" block/evade/parry formulas are modified due some variables like : Stats(like strength), defense Stats(like dexterity), the weaponspec and the class of the attacker(damagetables).

No one can answer me this question in a good detail. We got some years ago formulas of Grabbag (and of DAoC-Team) concerning block/evade/parry formular, but those things get modified heavy!

Maybe you can answer me this question (I hope)

thanks

it works by rolling a caster and not worrying about it.

long time ago, no one ran purge because it was warder zergs.

10 years later, they are finally RR5+ and can run purge, so stun nuke nuke isn't as effective.

run in cathal, where not many run purge, and you will see which a 45 light eld rips :o

Your question is a little broad but in general it boils down to:

- Weaponskill

- Defence skill

Weaponskill is influenced by your stat, spec and class. Warrior has the highest WS bracket in the game for example.

Defence skill is influenced by stat and spec. Dex influences block, parry and evade. Qui influences evade.

Hit/miss is influenced by bonus of item (35%).

You can read all of this at roclar.net/daoc. Most people use DAoC Char Plan and rely on the formulae there.

As a general rule of thumb, many years ago the consensus was to keep composite weapon spec to your level, to minimize the damage variance . So for example, a 39 SB will spec 30 sword to get 30+9 sword. These seems to have changed though as I am seeing 21 sword templates on the SB board.

Lastly, I am a returning player but played a ton many years ago and may have missed out some new information. If you are asking for the exact formulae you can find it at roclar.net/daoc.
