it doesn't have population numbers.
but the game is fine for population, Ywain is pretty close to a full server at primetime.

Put it like this, there's times around 2AM you get the feeling that far too many people play this game. Specifically, you get that feeling if you are a solo xper in the BGs ;-)
The end of the European servers helped the overall population grow significantly as during American night time a lot of Europeans play. So there's always people to kill and people to kill you.

BGs are way active now with premium xp quests.
NF RvR has good days and bad days ... but reasonable fun can be had esp if you buffer it with playing BGs.

I'm quite surprised by what little impact the new star wars game has had on overall population numbers.

DAoC is 10 years old... SWOTR is one of a myriad of potential "killers". DAoC probably isn't going any where anytime soon considering how the one server seems to be doing. I haven't played Live in year, but I prefer Uthgard.
First post in a long time.

thats because those people left playing daoc, are only interested in DAoC type game play...
SW:TOR is just another WoW clone, with shiny new interface elements and graphics.

I haven't played since 2008. I'm downloading the 14 day trial version as we speak. Unfortunately for me, I only have a 1.5 MBPS download connection :-(
My download is currently at 100MB out of a total 3673MB...........
I pray to god there aren't anymore huge downloads between the trial version and retail version if I decide to subscribe again. Not sure I have the patience to sit through this again.
Is the transition seamless between trial and retail? Or is there a completely new thing to download????

the "trial" client is the normal client.... there is no retail version...
you create an account, get 14 days.. and then start paying after the 14 days, or cancel before the 14 days are up

The number of these are overwhelming.
1. Market analysis
2. Identify WoW as market share leader... by a lot
3. Dump money into clone development
4. Create game identical to all other MMOs
5. Shutdown or go free-to-play
6. Repeat
Anyone know of anything which is more like DAoC that may be released?
