So I just reactivated with my 14 day trial. I realize they changed the UI, so I deleted my custom folder. I can load in but whenever I try to zone on any toon, I get a game.dll crash. Same if I try to /quit, it will crash the client rather than send me to the character select screen. What do I do to fix this?

I'm having the same problem as you. Haven't found a fix yet, but I've yet to try the 4G fix someone linked to in a post down the list.

Anyway - It's only become a problem for me since this patch .. so I know, not much help from my side, but you're not alone hehe

this was from another thread:

Here is the fix:

download 4G patch file from here..

http://www.mediafire.com/?mq0rmcib2wi4afw

1) go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot
2) Make copy of game.dll and camelot.exe file and put it somewhere you would remember
3) Extract the 4G patch zip file
4) Open 4gb_patch.exe
5) It will ask you to select a file.
6) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot and select game.dll
7) After the patch is done.. do the same thing for camelot.exe file.

It should fix the memory leak problem. If you encounter any problems
after the patch.. just put the files you copied earlier "game.dll and
camelot.exe" back in the Dark Age of Camelot folder.
You will need to do this every time there is an update to DAoC

Try shutting off your antivirus while you play. See if that changes things.

could be your INI files.

copy them all to another folder, and then remove them from the current one.
yea, you'll have to reset all your toolbars and hotbars and stuff, but if it works
it was worth it.

my 2 cents.

In order to better support Windows Vista, we have changed the locations of some files used by the client.

Please note the new updated locations for these files (the old locations may still contain copies of these files, but they are old and no longer updated by the game client so do not use them for backup/restore purposes):

The user.dat and character.ini/.ign files can now be found in the following location:

Windows XP, Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition:

• C:\Documents and Settings\<windows login name>\Application Data\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot\<LotM or TOA or etc.>\

Vista:

• C:\Users\<windows login name>\AppData\Roaming\electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot\<LotM or TOA or etc.>\

Note: The “Application Data??? folder for XP and earlier, and the “AppData??? folder for Vista, are hidden folders.

The debug.log, errorlog.txt and your screenshots can now be found in the following location:

Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows 95

• Cocuments and Settings<User>My DocumentsElectronic ArtsDark Age of Camelot

Windows Vista

• C:Users<User>DocumentsElectronic ArtsDark Age of Camelot

Im not sure its the same situation for you, but whenever I apply the 4G patch and run Camelot Updater,
the "4G fixed" game.dll file, gets replaced by a new one, so youre back to scratch. Maybe that's why you don't
see it working.

Instead I've always (the last 4-5 years or so) bypassed the Camelot Updater and jumped directly to the small character selection
box with password etc.

Maybe you should try this too, but making a .bat file and put a shortcut to it on your desktop?

What I did some time back, was:

Create a .txt file in your daoc folder, where camelot.exe is located and type the following
in this .txt file:

login.dll
/exit y

Then choose "Save as" and name it f.ex. "login.bat", still in your daoc folder .. press OK, and there you have it, a new
login.bat file, which you can link to on your desktop (create a shortcut).

Now, apply the 4G patch once again, and THEN run this new login.bat file - should bring you diretly to login-screen
with your account and password.

Try it out and see if it works - I can even run two accounts now without problems (almost).

My lowbie druid still crashed at the Druid trainer in Shar Labyrinth.. but it can be trained in TNN hehe.

At least I haven't had any game.dll errors for a day or two now, even when logging out or zoning.

I'm having the same problem with game.dll. That fix works but are you allowed to bypass the file check like that?
