When I resubbed daoc this past month I noticed there was tax on it. I thought this was state based? I live in Michigan and don't get taxed for ordering anything else online. Is it based on the state of the company?

Was just wondering why I get taxed on DAoC but nothing else.

Yeah, 15.85

which is a 6% tax, which is what michigan's sales tax is. But when I order stuff from say newegg or amazon, never any tax.

(edited, misread above post)

Doesn't matter what your states rules are on buying stuff on the internet. Mythic charges all state's their appropriate sales tax.

In Philadelphia we have an 8% sales tax, but PA has a 6% sales tax. I only get charged the 6% from Mythic.

Ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me on some glitch or something thats all. Don't mind paying it, but that was teh first time I had ever had to pay the tax. Last time I bought 2x 6 month daoc codes (which ended up being like 5 months of daoc for free!) when they had that spring sale on Origin. So I hand't paid in a long time lol.

Since Michigan seems to be trying to pass a law requiring that online sellers collect sales tax for them wherever situated, it's possible EA/Mythic is just covering their own asses by collecting those taxes as of the beginning of the year.

In any case, *I* don't have to pay sales tax on DAoC last time I checked. Which, admittedly, was last year, so maybe I should check again.
