I have to say I was very stoked about GW2, but the more I see of actual PvP battles the less impressed I am. I don't know why, it just seems that no one is interested in making a deeper combat system that requires some skill. It looks like the usual button pressing, wait for CDs, etc. kinda affair. Granted this was beta footage and maybe things will get better, but what I saw was people basically doing the same 1 or 2 things over and over and over and occasionally moving around a bit.
An Elder Scroll MMO would have my money, no questions asked, just as Daamien said. Sure it won't be like the single player game, nothing can beat the immersion of a single player game, but it's just so obvious that this game should have been an MMO years ago. It's always been more of a world then a game, just like Ultima before UO, and many people would like to see that world come alive in an MMO setting. (Despite the fact that it's bound to suck, because MMOs can never come close to really bringing a world to us in the way that we wish...which naturally is a completely unrealistic vision that conveniently forgets about "MM" part of the MMO.)
You could almost bet though that an Elder Scrolls MMO would have one of the most vibrant and "realistic-feeling" fantasy worlds that we've seen to date. I also think it'll have a great advancement system, as well as solid gear, crafting, etc. system since the single-player games have always had that too. (And long before most other games had them in such depth.)
Not sure what I think about Firor being involved, but either way you slice it he's going to have to answer to a lot of existing talent at Bethesda who will fight him tooth and nail over their vision of the ES universe, which obviously they know better then anyone.
I also wouldn't be surprised if it's again primarily a PvE game anyway, but I'd still buy it just to support one of the best RPG franchises of our time.
