Looking to pick up a decent laptop to play on while I'm away for work! Wouldn't need to be a top of the line setup, just something that I could log in to farm with! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Dont use hp or dell. Asus has the best products for the money, but their battery life kinda sucks. Imo, samsung is putting some good stuff out right now with an I5.

Anything with integrated graphics is going to die on DAoC. Speaking from experience.

my middle of the road Toshiba will run anything in DAOC with graphics wide open. Even my 250.00 compaq will run it with just a bit of lag.

I would look at spending about $800-1000

Geta mid range or just slightly lower graphic card like a nvidia gt550 or maybe a 540

or amd(ati) 56XX

As for a processor, Intel core i5 should be plenty

You could go core i3, but I would make up for the slower proc with a better graphics card.

Im not sure what amd has out atm for processors to compare with 13 and 15.

edit

I just checked newegg, and there are some lenovo lappys with some nice specs in the ~750 range

I've never had a lenovo, but there are starting to make some noise recently

only drawback on them lenovo's seem to be the 1366 x 768 resolution

Thats a touch small for my tastes, but you may think otherwise.

all i use for DaoC is my laptop. I have a sony vaio. I'm running the basic model with the i3 and experience a little lag with zergs. They have a model with a light up keyboard for about $899 thats really nice i think i5 or i7. I love it.

You can get an i3 with a graphics card for about $750 at new egg. It is an Asus.

This isn't bad at all. You could also get an i5 processor and add your own graphics card to it. It is not that hard to do.

My suggestion would be to get an i5 and add a card that costs about $50, or get an i3 with a card already installed if you want to stay around $750.

I would stay away from AMD processors though in laptops. They tend to overheat more and when they do, they tend to die before they shut down. The upside is you can get an AMD dual core with a graphics card for about $450-500 range, but I would typically avoid AMD's in laptops.

That's almost the exact setup I have at home, just in desktop form! I have 0 lag, even in huge zergs and running 2 accounts! Sucks that laptops are so much more than desktops! Built mine 2 years ago for under $500!
