This Saturday at the Comcast Arena is the third bout in season one for Tiled Thunder Rail birds, the northwest's only banked track roller derby team!
I will be doing live play-by-play for the pregame junior league bout at 4:15. After that I'll do some announcing during the main events. Its my first time doing anything like this, and I'm really excited.

I hear roller derby is a blast to watch but have never been to one.

Eh...there's one here. I hear it's just a place to get drunk and watched scantilly clad women beat each other up. Probably not something too many people on this board are intersted in.

Get drunk? Well yeah, on arena beer prices. or what you sneak in <WINK!>
Scantily clad? The girls wear tight clothes (spandex jerseys and shorts/skorts) that are mostly athletically functional. A lot of them do want to look cute and there is a little burlesque-style individuality. But (most) of them aren't trying to look trampy.
Beating each other up? Does NOT happen. There really isn't the old outlaw-style derby anymore where hockey brawls erupted. The girls are still real physical and the rules still allow for big hits and knockdowns. Contact between players these days is limited to shoulder/hip/butt blocking.

i was getting pretty excited until scruffy's cold shower of a post
jk, it still sounds awesome. i'd like to watch one, but i'd also like to compete in one. do guys do it also?

Sound like you guys are a bit classier up there.  The one here has a pretty bad rep at this point. And well, a few umm....unlady like disputes have broke out on occasion. And you totally ruined the fun of my post!! Cold shower indeed!
