Started a renegade femshep soldier.
Punched Khalisah Al-Jilani in the face.
Satisfied with ME1 again.

I picked it up, and I can't put it down. Don't want to give away too much.. but wow there are some good "tear-jerker" cut scenes as well as action. Some will probably disagree, but the script for this game was done very well. I transferred my character from the previous Mass Effects because I am interested in how they put in my backstory, which seems pretty insignificant at the moment..Dragon Age was the same way, though.
I seem to be using the same two characters in my party for about every mission..EDI and that Prothean dude (from the DLC/collectors edition). They ended up being a great combo for me, as this time around I switched from soldier to infiltrator.
I haven't played the MP in the full game too much yet because my friends I game with haven't been on as of late. They do need to fix how you get groups, though. It would be nice if everyone in your party could get thrown into the game at the same time. We seem to get random people filling up empty spots before a friend can get into the game. On the other hand, I wish it was easier to get into a random game. I don't have a problem doing that with my main character, but when I make a new one and people see that level 1 I get booted out right away, and rightfully so since they have the difficulty on silver+ I am sure they will tweak MP in the near future.
My XBL tag is in the sig, anyone can feel free to add me. Just tell me who you are

The game was awesome. Absolutely fantastic. Lots of scenes that pull at the heart strings and choke you up, lots of very difficult choices you need to make (or made previously in ME1/2) that impact a lot of other things in the story.
And then you get to the ending, and you can't believe you invested five years into your Shepard, your friends and allies, all to be handed... that. I feel like I've been trolled.
Seriously depressing.

I haven't beaten it yet but I've heard the rage of the internet directed at it.
Kinda worrying but between the events on Rannoch and Tuchanka I'm already pretty satisfied with the game.

I'm pretty sure every single surviving character has shown up in one way or another, and all of the squadmates have had major story impacts. I can't imagine this game having near the impact it does if you didn't save characters like mordin, wrex, legion, or thane, let alone the main squadmates. Hell even Tali and Garrus could have been dead if you screwed up in 2. It definitely has an impact. I know I missed a scene with Kelly Chambers because I didn't talk to her enough in 2 fearing I'd screw up the other romance options. It also impacts your war resources which determine your ending.

You'd need to be invested in the characters first, probably by playing the previous games. There is some top notch world building and storytelling here. Without that investment to an outsider it would just look like a gears of war clone.
