aww, that's really cool! Especially considering the bear could have had mountain lion with a side of human for dinner.

Nice story, but the yearling and newborn might have had something to do with that, too. The eye contact was probably to assess how dangerous the human was.

Not that I'm not all for mystical stuff, jus' sayin'.

Oh no. I think the guy's reading too much into it, personally. imo, the man didn't pose a threat, the mountain lion did. The bear clearly wasn't looking for a meal, just protecting her little ones. I guess it's possible that the bear perceived the man as a "little one," but doubtful.

I dunno Umlap. He's seen that momma bear many times over the years and never screwed with her... I would not be surprised if she protected the guy. Having seen him over the years she knew he was no threat. But a cougar is always a threat to her cubs so when she saw it attack the passive guy. I dunno. Been weirder things happen.

Nice story though. Just awesome.

I'm also down with this. All for weird stuff.

Moreover, I'm not gonna argue with a guy who gets back from a mountain lion attack and says, "Just pour some peroxide on it, I don't have time for hospitals."
