WTF, I'm too much of a noob for the Rikostan spotlight

My favorite way to relax: massage, either giving one or receiving it. Second would be cooking--I'm baking ham bread now. And then the standard personal ad stuff, walks on beaches, reading, movies, climbing Kilimanjaro or walking 500 miles on a medieval pilgrimage...

My favorite country to live in? I was just going to post about that! We're in Finland for another year, then we have to pick a place to live next year. I want to try Spain, maybe buy an old stone house on the Costa Brava and restore it.

Other possibilities are London or New York. Personally, I feel home is California, although I was born in Japan.

I could never live in Japan. I don't stay there longer than 3 weeks, max, before my insane Jesus freak relatives drive me nuts. Some Japanese people are also very mean to my Venezuelan hubby. One old man cornered me on the street when I was walking with him and called me a prostitute.

Paris was not easy, but it was one of the most rewarding places I've ever lived. We might go back to France next year.

I'd also like to try living in India or China. So where should I live, ACF?

Weird factoids about me: I grew up in a trailer, was an illegal alien, and went to Bob Jones University's Elementary School. I'm the oldest of 6 kids, and my family were underground Christians in Japan since the 16th century.

I think you should try Spain too... and nobody is is safe from the spotlight.

I would like to hear more about the 500 jaunt. I would give that a try, but only if they handed out a free beer every 100 yards.

How many languages do you speak or understand and what are they?

The Camino de Santiago pilgrimage is the walk of a lifetime, and plenty of cervezas all along the way

in the Rioja wine country, one of the monastery/wineries has a free fountain for pilgrims. One faucet gives water, the other wine!

It's very cheap (hostels are free or at most a couple of euros, meals are under 10 euros for 3 courses.) if your knees can stand it. I loved the Templar ruins the best. It took me 29 days of walking to do it, but I was in Spain 2 months.

Languages I can converse in:

Japanese

English

Spanish

French

Languages I can understand if spoken:

Italian

Portuguese

Korean (basic)

Gallego/Catalan

Languages I can read:

Some Chinese

Latin

Note: Finnish is not one of these languages, and I don't think it will be, even though I live here. I give up.
