"Lets see, I know he is married and he is a gadget freak, but thats about it."
Yes, you got that right! I have owned laptops, desktops(build my own), macs, ran linux, have a pocketpc, digital camera, camera phone, DV cam, front projector for the home theater and some other crap. I spend too much damn money. It's amazing my wife even tolerates me.
"So where do you live Fandibus? What do you do for a living? How long have you been married?"
Let me see, I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Now live in Gresham, Oregon which is really a suburb of Portland. My Wife and I just recently bought a new house here that we love. Before this it was townhouse living which sucked. God I hate townhomes.
I drive a 98 Dodge Dakota and love it. My Wife has a 2004 Dodge Neon RT, which has also been a great vehicle.
We have been married for 7 and a half years. I am 29 years old and my Wife is 27 I think(i'm going to be in trouble!).
My job history started out at Safeway as a bag boy. I was in school at the time and it was just some extra money.
Awhile later I joined the Air Force. I was supposed to go in with a good friend of mine but along came a girl that destroyed our friendship and that ruined that. But perhaps that's another story.
I was eventually discharged from the Air Force due to a bad back.
I then worked at the airport as a security screener. At the time they only paid minimum wage which was $4.85/hour then with no hope of a raise and no benefits. That really sucked. But it is a great place to people watch. I had people come through the scanner thing and set it off so we scan them with a hand device. One guy had a handful of bullets, which was actually ok at the time as he did'nt have a gun.
You know we actually did'nt have to stop anyone for having drugs, though we did anyways.
What's really scary is that the changes made to the airport security screener positions since 9/11 still won't prevent another 9/11.
Well on that happy note, in 1995 I started in the Semiconductor industry and been doing it every since. Which is a great opportunity as I don't have a degree or any college really. But I make killer money and have great benefits as a button pusher.
I work in Fabs/cleanrooms and build integrated circuits. Chances are you have a piece of electronics that has a chip that one of my companies made. Which is scary.
I have made system ram, notebook ram, flash memory, chips for dvd recorders, HDTV's, Hard drives, ATI and Nvidia graphics chips, PS1 and PS2 I/O chips, the list goes on and on.
But all in all it is a very easy job. But it's not really the most stable industry. So I am always looking for ways to run my own home based business but it seems most everything I find is just a scam. Any ideas?
And in 2003 on April 22nd at 5:16pm we had our first child, a girl. So life has changed since that point, but we were at a point in our lives where it was time to settle down and raise a family. She's pretty cool though, we like having her around.
So what do I do for fun? I spend entirely too much time on these boards. I have played just about every mmorpg to date and some in beta. Maybe that is why I am so burned out on the genre. But i'm really looking forward to Empire Earth 2, Battlefield 2 and Dark and Light. I was also really looking forward to Half Life 2 but for some reason I never bothered to get it. Maybe because I have amazingly short attention span.
We like to camp in the summers, have some parties thorughout the year to put my kegerator to good use. The guys get together from time to time for some poker, which I usually suck at.
We used to go to movies alot but having a child and a house seems to cut into movie time. So I haven't been to the theater for a long time, I don't even know when.
Well that's me I think, if you have any other questions or want me to elaborate just ask!

My mom used to work in a clean room for Motorola in AZ.. I am not sure what she did exactly, but it had to do with wafers..
Another grocery person!.. You know, some days I actually miss that job. I loved working in the produce department, even though it was manual labor and the pay was pretty bad.
Thanks for sharing, and thanks for posting here with us!

What I really hated about working at Safeway was counting the cans. Our store had the largest bottle return in the state and we saw alot of nasty crap in there. Imagine dumping out a bag of cans in a cart and all that old pop dumps all over your shows. Alot of these bags are full of garbage as well. Plastics plates and forks, bits of hotdogs. Corona bottles have moldy lemons in them. I have even seen some 2 liters with dead mice in them. It was so nasty.
Guys there would love to take a lobster out of the seafood tank and play soccer with it in the back room. And then leave it in the bottleroom right as customers are coming in. So I have to quickly place a box over it so the customers don't see and home the box does'nt move.
The job sucked but we all had to start somewhere.
