OMG!! Ok so.....this is going to be so boring.
Way back in 1966 I was born in Orlando, Florida. My family has a long history with the state and you can find pics of my ancestors on the walls of
Fort Christmas. I mainly grew up in Cocoa and Altamonte Springs (for those who have ever heard of them). My parents divorced when I was 7 and it basically screwed me up for the next 30 years. I've been married and divorced twice and have a 7yo daughter who is absolutely the
cutest thing ever. I also have three sisters, two of which can be seen
here. I moved to Augusta, GA for work for about 8 years and hated it, so I eventually moved back home.
My dad was a hick and redneck and I spent a lot of my early childhood camping and fishing. I learned to shoot early in life and can remember shooting a rifle before I could hold it up. My dad would sit me in the truck and with the door open and the window down and he'd rest the barrel of the rifle on the door. I could shoot out the blue ribbon on a Pabst Blue Ribbon box by the time I was 13.

He was also a bit of a survivalist and taught me that Sabal Palm (aka Cabbage Palm and the official tree of the state of Florida) is good eats. If you chop the palm down to the heart (basically the opposite end of the palm fronds), you can eat it raw or cooked.
I grew up a tomboy and a jock. I tried cheerleading and decided I'd rather be playing football than standing on the sidelines. Of course, back then a girl couldn't play, so I played baseball and softball. I also ran track. The only thing I was really any good at was softball and I played shortstop for many years (into my early 30s). During my 20s I played a few months of semi-pro women's baseball and had a blast, but we weren't getting paid and I couldn't stick with it because I had bills to pay. Growing up in FL, I've done my fair share of water skiing, kneeboarding, surfing, and swimming. We also had horses when I was a kid and my Dad says I could ride a horse before I could walk. I think he's exaggerating, though.
As far as work, I've spent most of my career as an Instructional Technologist and designed and developed computer-based training courses for the military. I've taught everything from Command and Control (Army National Guard), Repair and Maintenance of Sonar (Navy), and Generic Principles of Satellite Communications (Army). I started back when we drew flowcharts by hand and it took 12 hours to compile code. The training has spanned everything from standup instruction in a classroom to flat-panel maintenance trainers and full system and motion-base simulators. Interesting, fun and challenging work. You are always learning something new. Currently I'm not in my field (damn that pesky war) and work as a Concierge at Disney's Polynesian Resort. About the only perk to that is I get free park admission.
Since someone *mentioned* whips.....I do live a little on the darker side, but since this is a 13+ board, I'm not going into all that.
That's my boring life in a nutshell. Thanks, Riko!!
