OK guys, sorry this took so long. I spent a week with my brother in NC. He has had cancer of the mouth for the 3rd time now and while there we learned he also has a rare cartilage cancer on some of his ribs. It's tough seeing him go thru this cause he was my boyhood idol and I care a lot for him. Anways, here we go:
I was born at a very young age in San Diego, CA in 1958. At age 4 we were off to Chicago, followed by Charlestons SC; Norfolk, VA; Arkansas; N.C.; and Oklahoma, all by age 16. My Dad was in the Navy until I was 9 but his feet were always hot.
I've lived most of my life in Arkansas and Oklahoma but have been in the Seattle area now for almost 8 years. I'll probably live here the rest of my life. One thing moving around did was give me confidence to take on anything I wanted. I've also lived in Baltimore a couple of times, that's where my wife was born and raised. I met her in the Army, we were both enlisted.
I have about a semester and a half of college I took while working rotating shifts where I rotated every 2 weeks. It's tough to do that. I made the Dean's list and thought "hmmm" then promptly threw the letter away cause it meant nothing to me. I casually told someone at work and they thought it was a very big deal. My wife had gone behind me and pulled it from the trash, but that's how I am. I am very embarassed by both good things and bad things I do.
I currently am doing a job for which I should probably have an engineering degree. I am the senior estimator in an aerospace machine shop and make a lot of bid packages for Boeing, Raytheon and the military, among others as well.
My work experiance includes the following:
Roughneck in the oil field
Hot Roofer (foreman)
Tool & Die maker and supervisor of aluminum die casting
Shipper/Supervisor in a steel mill(also ran mill and hot metal cranes)
Hydraulic machinist/mechanic
CNC machinist
Tool Purchaser
In 1984 I fell thru a rotted roof deck and broke my back and some ribs. When I fell the base of my skull missed a meathook on a conveyor belt by mere inches, it grased my left shoulder. I've had a coulpe more brown short incidences as well.
I love music, mostly rock, classic rock, southern rock, rockabilly and blues. I design and build my own car stereo systems, sometimes including passive crossover networks. I used to compete in car stereo. The first year I finished the World Finals (1995) in IASCA in Dallas, TX placing 7th in unlimmited watts (601+) in the Novice class. The next year I went pro competing against installers and store owners. I did the USAC finals in KC and placed 13th overall in the 501-1000 power watt class.
I also like hotrods and muscle cars and am currently building a pretty hot but streetable 77 Nova. I like fishing and when I finish with the Nova will build a boat. My wife says I'm the kind of person that alway has to have a project going and I guess it's true. I'm also very passionate about football, but only at the pro level.
I guess I've had a rough life. 4 knee surgeries including a total knee replacement, 2 shoulder surgeries and need a shoulder replacement, maybe both, bone grafts on my wrist and of course the broken back. I actually did some powerlifting after breaking my back. I have a pretty strong base. The first time I ever did deadlifting I worked out with a guy in the gym and went up to 405 dead lifts and blew him away. And he was a heavy steroid user, LOL.
Last but definately not least, I've been married 25 years and have 2 daughters and 2 grandbabies and another on the way!
