A revised Community Information Thread sticky has been posted. Please take a few minutes to read through it, since it updates and clarifies some of the rules that are specific to this board.


Feel free to bump this post for a few days to keep it in the top 10 or so threads; however, farming this post is what we consider Really Bad Judgment.

Looks good, although I think the no tagging thing is a tad much. I like the useful links inside too.

I personally highly agree with the "no tagging" rule...


I don't like it when people "tag" links because it clutters them up, and it makes it really hard to find the relevant information in the thread.... especially when you have to wade through 25+ "tag" posts.


getting rid of the garbage posts will help keep threads cleaner and easier to use/read/follow/support, etc.


it's a win-win situation for everyone really.. it's not at all that difficult to either:

1) post something actually useful in the thread to "tag" it, or..

2) PM yourself the link as suggested.

Or, if it's really important to them, people will take the extra 30 seconds to click a couple more links and type out a PM to themselves (or just simply add the thread to their favorites list) as a reminder.


Edit: I suppose they could also use the Active Topic Notification feature here as well, to get an e-mail when new posts are made in the thread.

Active topic notification sucks, if you could set it send an emil just one time but getting 30emails a day for one topic makes it near pointless.


As for tagging it is a practice that has been used on the boards for a good bit of time, banning it just doesnt seem right.

As for the "no tag" rule.. that sucks. Do you know how many pages of PM's some people have? Are you afraid that people are farming for stars, and not using a tag legitamitly? I mean, when I tag something.. if the topic isn't something meaningful, then I will usually change the top of my reply, so I can easily identify it in my latest posts. Can we "Oh, I might find this one useful" the posts? Also, with tags, it would allow a good utility to be bumped, until all that may be interested in it can see it, then it'll sink to the bottom of the posts and die like all the rest.
