Haven't tried MakeIt yet...does it allow you to make a partial recipe (e.g., stopping the tusker beers just before combining with bottles)? I think most beer makers agree, it's better to have a stack of kegs of brew than to combine with bottles for storage purposes.

Recipes are maintained in a separate 'recipes' xml file which really isn't all that difficult to maintain. I am adding methods to Make It! to allow people to add recipes without editing the xml file to make it even easier.

If I had my druthers, I'd release it with NO recipe file at all, and allow users to discover recipes on their own, and trade and support each other with their own files. (Indeed, the first recipe file was VERY minimal, the one currently being release is one that was submitted by a dedicated user).

So what we have here is a good balance, me working on the code making things possible, users working together and sharing their recipe modifications to add new functionality.

Of course, to the lazy, please don't bother me with actually learning the game type of person, they'll probly get upset that I don't release the whole file myself. Oh well, that is not the type of player I write my plugins for.

it's too late for that, whatever is found is up on maggie's in minutes afterward

and no need to call anyone lazy Hun. Lots of people would rather play the game, like hunting and finding interesting things or doing quests, not sit there trying to figure out a plug-in to make stuff for them

The whole point of your plug-in was to make people lazy and now you're complaining?

No. The whole point of my plugin was to get rid of tiresome repetitive tasks that require absolutely no thought. The point was NOT to remove research, discovery or any other part of the 'fun' of being a crafter.

By not including all recipes to begin with, the person that wants to discover things on their own, while removing the repetitive, boring tasks, can do so.

If a crafter is just there as a mule to make support items for their other toons, then Maggies and other sites can give the recipes easily, and other users can trade those recipes among themselves.

This allows BOTH styles of play to benefit from the plugin. Actually, based on this discussion I realize I'm really breaking my principles and should remove most recipes from the default install. I can then provide a separate download of a more complete recipe file for those that prefer to be a mule than a crafter.

that's what I was going to suggest, for those that would like the task of figuring recipes out, make it default, and those that already know what to do and what's needed, give us a completed recipe file to stick in the folder so we can go about our business of just making stuff
