I have cable internet access, a Motorola wireless cable modem, two computers, with a seperate Asheron's Call account on each.

I can log Account 1 or 2 on Computer 1 just fine. Or I can log into Account 1 or 2 on Computer 2 just fine.

However, if I am logged inot either account on one computer, and then attempt to log into the other account on the other computer, I get the UI but no 'portal' animation, and my connection goes red link after a minute or so, dropping the connection.

What's REALLY weird is that when I look at the first computer, I am getting chat from where the character was that didn't login sucessfully. And any chat I type in does not appear in game...it's like the seconda character's chat appears under the first character...

Router / port problem? Are both accounts trying to access the same port? I use Drakier's dual log, anything I need to change there?

Thanks for any help.

Had the same issue, hod to manually configure the ports in the userpreferences.ini file.

You will need to change the port number in the userpreferences.ini file for each computer you want to have logged on at the same time.

To do this follow these steps to go; C:\My Documents\Asheron'sCall\user preferences.ini

1. Go to “My Computer” and open your C:\ drive

2. Go into the “My Documents” folder

3. Go into the “Asheron’s Call” folder

4. Double-Click on the file “UserPreferences.ini”

One of the lines in this file says “UserSpecifiedPort=0” For each computer that you want to connect to Asheron’s Call you will need to change the number 0 to a number between 9000-9013. Each computer will need a separate number.

For example:

Computer1: Will need to change it to UserSpecifiedPort=9000

Computer2: Will need to change it to UserSpecifiedPort=9002

Now you should be able to log on both computers at the same time with two different accounts to the same world.

lol ... ummm ... no ....

On an added note, you may need to go in to your router's forwarding settings and set the ports there as well. i.e. forward 9000 to comp 1, forward 9002 to comp 2.

oh...please disregard previous message.

I changed comp 1 userprefs.ini to port = 9000, comp2 to 9002.

I also did the same thing in AC Dual Client.

Works perfectly, thanks a million for the tip.

This actually works best in ACDualClient if you set up Auto-Port and configure Computer1 and Computer2 to use separate ranges..

Example:

Computer1 - SPort:9000 EPort:9025

Computer2 - SPort:9030 EPort:9055

And if you have Computer3 and Computer4...

Computer3 - SPort:9060 EPort:9085

Computer4 - SPort 9090 EPort:9115

you get the idea.

=]

That way you can Multi-Log (up to 5 accounts) on each computer because NONE of the port ranges are overlapping.

Hmm well today I removed a partition which changed my drive letters. i uninstalled ACDC, Decal, all plugins, wiped folders, and reg entries, reinstalled everything (Drakier, thx for the info on NET 1.1 on other thread)

So...I have the 'port problem' again, where I can log into the in-game UI but never see the spinning portal - after a few minutes the connection yellow links/red links/disconnects.

My second comp is fine.

In ACDC on comp1 I have s.port 9000/e.port 9025, on comp2 I have s.port 9030/e.port 9055 per Drakier.

My userpreferences.ini files are set to 9000 on comp1 and 9030 on comp2.

Now, all this worked before - what simple thing am I missing?

can you log in and does it work WITHOUT ACDualClient?

try to get it all working without ACDualClient, then try it with.

Make sure your firewalls are set up correctly as well.

Unplugged cable modem.

Waited 30 seconds.

Plugged it back in.

Everything works - go figure!
