yeah haz has it rought but some of it he is bringing on himself


they ahve gotten some donations for their work, so it hasn't been totally 'free' yet it was probablly so little that 'technically' it amounted to almost nothing so is a sense of getting practically NOTHTING, most of the work has been free.


I've mentioned numerous times how and where the bug can be repeated, over the course of several hours I've refined that to exactly what seems to be causeing the problem all the while all haz has said is repeatly is there is no dash bug.


yeah as someone mentioned there wasn't a WI flag either.


My OPINION is haz is a 19-21 devewloper with a "I'am great/god" type of attituide and after the first message really has not been paying attention to the details only skimming and repeating no there isn't a problem

He has told you countless times that there is no "dash" bug because there isn't. People with dashes in their name can log in fine.. if you want examples, look at the other thread where you meantioned this.


I'm not quite sure what the issue is because I haven't been following that thread very closely, but I trust haz's opinion and if he says it isn't a dash in the name, then I believe him... and so should you. Afterall.. he IS the one with the code sitting right in front of him. Do you have the Decal Source in front of you?


You can hypothesize all you want, but at the end of the day, you don't have the code. You can only speculate based on what characteristics you're seeing. We can actually VERIFY by looking at code.


So please stop talking about it now. There is no problem with characters who have a dash in their name.

chances are, its a protocol issue related to some of the flags... but then again.. as I said before.. I haven't been following this problem particularly closely, as I've been working on other aspects of different problems.


Until we get it fixed, all you can do is speculate, and you're speculating incorrectly..


it's just circumstance that you were able to find a couple of characters with a dash in their name and crash.


There are a LOT of things more similar to characters than just their name. It could be something in their flag values or other things. (you know all those settings that are stored on a per-character basis on the server side? it could be some of those!)

i just logged in a Toon named Dark-Tinker, all i had was decal 5D running and i was able to log in and out and play just fine. Only time i get problems is when i have ElTank running with decal, then i get random crash from switching toons.

How can you explain that characters with dashes in their name can log in without crashing, with Decal and Characterstats enabled?

I saw this topic earlier today, and even commented it on another thread.


Recently, I've been cleaning up my mules, and I have noticed that when I try to log in or log out of a character with a - in their name, they tend to crash more often than the rest of my toons.


I just did a little experiment, and out of 10 logins/logouts on toons such as "Al-Ackbar" and "Edrin al-Jafar", I crashed when I logged out of them about 50/50.


When I logged in to other toons without a - in their name (ie from Arch Magi to Sword of Kos) it took me about 10 times before I crashed.


The only program I was running was Decal, DHS, and ElTank.


Bottom line, I am seeing instances where if log out of a toon with a - in his name, it APPEARS to crash more frequently.
