If you download it before November 6, 2006 you can keep it, it does not expire, it just will not be downloadable.
Also SQL Server Express 2005 is a free download with no termination date.
This is great for anyone looking to develop Decal plugins, or just learn how to program.

Cool.. just what I was lookin for. Now, where do I get Decal Programming for Dummies? Also, for someone that hasn't programmed anything since QBasic... which would be the best to start in? I've got an idea for a "simple" plugin, but don't have the first clue on where to start.

If I understand their FAQ correctly, you can download the Express editions free within the next year or so and then use them forever without ever paying anything.

Notably the express editions will be free forever, you just have to download them sometime before November 7, 2006.
