Ok, let the flames being.
Dear Decal guys,
Have you ever thought of putting a "News Windown" in the Decal App, like how there is in the Turbine Launcher? Something that could be fed from the official Decal site and (minus the stupid graphics that are a memory hog) every time Decal is launched, would go out and get a 0.5k or 1k string which would contain text that would give an "official status"?
Heck, you could even make up about 50 "canned" text messages, and simply pass 1 byte between the Decal app and your server and use that byte as a pointer as to what message to display. You could even use byte 255 as a flag to tell the app to download a 2k packet then have that packet be "free flowing".
Things like:
00 - Communications to Decal server lost, unable to get news.
01 - Decal is operational.
02 - It's patch day, we are still working on Memlocs.
03 - Arch Magi smells funny, please ignore him.

a_m at first glance (as a Decal outsider) I'd say that sounds like a wonderful suggestion.
However, after a bit of thought (several milliseconds) I expect that it would add WAY too much bandwidth to their website what with all the number of times decal is started each day. So I don't expect they'd add it.
especially after I just saw a post on their Dev boards about NOT clicking update on patch day UNTIL a official annoucement as it adds too much to their bandwidth.
