I can make that optional although I can not understand why anyone would prefer that over
selecting a bow. It must be a matter of playstyle.
I'll try to explain why I always equipped arrows and let valet equip the bow. You're correct though that if I'm carrying several bows that would all use the same arrow type then I couldn't do it that way. This is useful only when hunting with rending bows. However I don't have hi wield AR bows in the different damage types. I carry a variety of rending bows and one good 290 wield AR bow (and one CS) for all damage types when I need AR or CS. When I'm hunting with the AR or the CS I am never switching bows, just arrows. The value for me of AG (and valet before it) is for hunting and questing mixed mobs with my Rending bows.
It's mostly because of the game mechanics. Selecting new arrows and letting the plugin equip your bow is much faster in battle.
Imagine you have no plugins helping at all, and have several bows AND arrow types on your hotkeys.
If you are in war mode and simply hit a hotkey to equip a different bow this is what happens:
1. you drop to peace mode
2. you switch bows
3. you return to war mode
If you are in war mode and hit a hotkey to equip a different type of arrow, this is what happens:
1. you drop to peace mode
2. you switch to the new arrows
3. you STAY in peace mode -- this is the important difference.
Because of that difference, I have always made a habit of switching arrows before I switched my bow when doing everything manually. It saves one keystroke (manually going out of war mode at the start) AND it avoids the possibility of accidentally going back into war mode before I change arrows.
With Ammo Gimp, if I'm in war mode and hit a kotkey for a new bow, what happens is
1. I drop to peace mode
2. I switch bows
3. I go back into war mode
4. I drop to peace mode again
5. I switch arrows
That cycling into and out of war mode in the middle of the process takes a lot of time when a mob is pounding on you

If I remember to drop to peace mode before hitting my hotkey AND if the game doesn't ignore the keystroke (it can and does, more often then I like) then I'm ok doing it that way.
On the other hand, if AG would equip a bow when I equip arrows, it would always happen this way, with no chance of time consuming mistakes on my part:
I'm in war mode and hit the hotkey for a different arrow type and:
1. I drop to peace mode
2. I switch arrows
3. I switch bows
Lastly, the one other great idea that Valet implemented was to go to war mode automatically after it finished. So one keystroke while in war mode would completely change my weapon and ammo and leave me in war mode, as quickly as automation can accomplish it.
I hope this all made sense. If any of it doesn't I'll be happy to try to explain better.
