Well, installation of these components is not a downgrade, it'll install next to DX 10. In other words, your DX10-only software will still work. Afaik it's impossible to downgrade DX 10 to DX 9.

Ahh okay, so i'll have two directx's technically? Works for me.

I downloaded the core file, but I'm still having lots of weird problems... When I go to update decal, I'll get through 4 of th 5 steps, but once I get to the fifth, it will say, "The file is in use elsewhere. Please shut down programs and try again.", and then it will say "Decal has been updated."


Anyways, I tried running AC with Decal, and I ran into this error...

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." This may be due to the fact that I can't update Decal for some reason.


I'm assuming that this has something to do with Direct X 9.0 not being on my machine... So, again, I tried to install Direct X 9.0c Run-time environments, and ran into multiple other errors.

While installing the directx9.0c from the Microsoft Site, it gets stuck at the "Downloading X SDK Update (February 2006). It sits there for like a minute then comes up with an error saying, "Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connections."


I've tried turning off the firewall and everything, still a no go.

Same thing I'm getting.
