Oh Yes it is. You can still do it the Old way( although for the life of me, I can not understand why).

You can't research spells, you have to buy scrolls, but once you get them you still might want to know what ratio of components you want to buy.

Yes. I'd also like to have the spell economy back, as well as tinkering removed (except for Ivory and Leather.) The tinkering effects should be available with lower effect magnitude and lower tinkering number caps via quests (and on DT, as rare drops off PK kills of players in an allegiance other than your own.) A possible example for NPK worlds is a point system for completing quests, where at x number of points you can get a new salvage bag from a NPC in one of the capital towns.

Not really in my book. For one it was tedious, and being tedious serves what? Sometimes being tedious can be good for a game, but I can't think of a good reason to make spell research tedious. If the spelleconomy had worked liked it was suppose to, then perhaps.

Umm it would be great for when you make a new guy instead of spending a lot of cash on scroll to just learn them.
and the #1 reason to bring back research FIZZLE DANCE!

the only thing i miss is learning ALL my spells in one sitting with Arcane Knowladge buying all the comps and learning all the wars including rings... and trying to learn bunny smite =P the comps were in the list LOL
it would be nice, but not really practical anymore...
