doesn't WarCry or VN host a locations database?


I know WarCry used to have one that ACExplorer used to be able to use. I figured Dereth Explorer used a similar format and could possibly use it as well. Did WarCry take their database offline?

Last I knew .. when I look at the files in a compare utility (the DLed from Warcry against the present Dreath Explorer version) .. Warcry had changed thier XML format in thier downloadable file .. since July 2007 when the changes took place on thier web site.

the good thing about XML is it is EASY to convert to any format you want.


*shrug* could easily make an XSL transformation on it to convert to any format Dereth Explorer wants.

Its been approaching 4 months now since a new version was announced to possibly be coming.

So I guess we can only hope that if this would ever come out that the database would be made compatible again.

I thought we had made changes back again to address this issue, but I could be wrong. I'll ask.

Theoretically, it shouldn't be too difficult to make GoArrow display the map in a separate window from AC; all of the map drawing is done using GDI+. I've considered doing this in the past, but it never got past the "consider" phase. I might take further look into it, but no promises

Thanks for all the responses so far, but it seems Dereth Explorer can still not be updated without breaking it.


I bought the ACExplorerPro-Version quite some time ago, so I am currently using that one, but I really liked Dereth Explorer as well.


(Which is still nice, but its not up-to-date..)
