This one is pretty self-explanatory. It fetches a list of available plugins (all plugins, not just my plugins) and compares it against the ones you currently have installed. Basically, it's like the one in Decal except that it works and the plugin list is current. Here's an action shot:

The utility is available for download on my website:

My own website. I've had the list up there for awhile, and been updating it. As far as I can tell it is the most current list available.

Why? Decal can already do everything this can, and would if it's own list was up to date. If you felt there was a need for this, why didn't you suggest/ask for decal to be updated rather than go to all this effort? Maybe we might have said 'sorry, too busy right now', but you didn't even ask.

Between asheron.info, dereth.info, ACVault, CoD and decal itself, there's already plenty plugin lists around, I don't think yet another is necessary.

Decal's utility does not work for .net plugins. I'm sure it may in the future, but who knows when that will be.

All of the above mentioned lists are updated infrequently and are missing multiple plugins. The lists on the Vault and builtin to Decal are not even real lists, with just a handful of listed plugins. A list like this is only as good as it is updated frequently, and nobody else has done that.

In addition, none of the other lists contain enough information to generate a full decalplugins.xml file.

The wiki on asheron.info and yaroz's list on dereth.info ARE being updated, and mostly have been with as much information as plugin devs bother to share. Anything that's not on these lists is either new, obsolete, no longer works, or in the case of the wiki, the plugin author hasn't bothered to updated it yet. I update it myself when I get a chance inbetween studying for exams, but there's no reason anybody else can't do the same.

I'm sorry, but claiming 'nobody else has done that' is a bit rude considering the effort yaroz and I have put in keeping these lists up to date. dereth.info is recognized by Turbine as an official fan site, and is the only list that should be considered the most current list available until yaroz makes an announcement to the contrary. Only the wiki may potentially be more up to date if the plugin author has updated it before yaroz has had a chance to update dereth.info.

BTW, yaroz, put a 'notify of an plugin update' button somewhere on the website, huh? Or better yet, a way for plugin devs to update it.

In my opinion, relying on plugin developers to submit updates to plugin lists is a flawed methodology.

I suggest other people compare the lists themselves and draw their own conclusions, rather than relying on what is "officially recognized by Turbine" or whatever. That plugins are missing from the lists that you cited that DO work is a fact.

a lot better than a website, imo

edit:

only thing that could make it better, if it doesnt already do it, is have a description of the plugin on mouseover

If you can show me a flawless one, I'll be more than impressed. As far as I can tell, yaroz has been keeping dereth.info up to date exactly the same way as you, and ANYONE can update the wiki, not just the author of the plugin.

So? There's some missing from yours as well. However, take EmoteButler and NinjAlert for example- as far as I know, they've never been advertised or announced anywhere. You can't criticize a list for not being complete if nobody tells you there's something missing from it, especially if it's a wiki, and you're more than capable of updating it yourself.

Lol, why would you want to go to 4 different places to check for ALL the updates for plugins?

Why do you seem angry that Virindi made a helpful tool that lists plugins for just about every plugin available? all in ONE spot.. oh yea, not only that, but it checks to see if you have the latest version in a easy to read manner.

btw, I made a suggestion a long time ago for the decal devs to update the list, I forgot what their answer was, but as you can tell, they havent done anything about it
