asheron's call not working help

I just reinstalled my operating system..
installed the drivers,etc and I think I have them all installed.
When I start up AC I get to the list of worlds and whenver I click on say Darktide I get an hour glass for a few seconds..
then the hour glass disappears and nothing.
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Let me repost that..
I login using the launcher, I go all the way through until its time to select my server. I select a server (in my case Darktide but I have tried Frostfell as well). I click "next" and the launcher closes. Nothing happens. No related processes running after that.
I've also tried double clicking the server instead of clicking next with the same results.
Any advice?

Advice? Sure. Answer some basic questions: Which OS (if Win7 or Vista, there's a million posts about this very problem)? What type of router do you have, if at all? Are you running Decal (if so, post an export)? Are you sure you have a working internet connection? Can you describe the problem any better (you're not getting any error message(s) and ACclient just closes and takes you back to your desktop)?
Start with the obvious basic troubleshooting methods.

running vista.
no other programs like decal etc are running.
No error messages.
As soon as I click on Darktide, the launcher box goes away and AC never comes up. Nothing happens

well i dont have any programs. i just have windows firewall.. but ive tried to turn it off completely and it still wont work.

i heard from another it could be a direct X problem.
do you know a safe website to download the latest directX for vista?

There's a link in the Sticky to get the latest directx. It's not OS specific.

downloaded direct x and extracted to its own file on desktop..
still not working.
I can't find any help on this either. Dangit
