I just fired up AC yesterday after leaving in august and am running into major Decal and Virindi Tank problems on one of my computers.

Everything seemed fine but when I logged in a character I was getting some weird popup error message but if I clicked on okay I could get into game just fine and play just fine except I couldn't get Virindi Tank to work. All other decal apps worked fine and updated to checkmarks.

So I decided to try and fix it and apparantly screwed up everything. First I unistalled then reisnstalled Virindi Tank. After doing that I couldn't even log in any. When clicking on a character at login screen my AC client would just stop working. So I inistalled and reinstalled Decal. Now ot won't update and I get all red X's.

I am not even the least bit computer savvy and this is on a wiondows 7 computer. Everything used to work fine and as recently as yesterday everything BUT Virindi Tank worked fine.

Now I am at a loss as to what to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Another thing. Since I redownloaded decal when I try to bring it up I get an error message telling me my AC Client is out of date which I don't understand?

I had that same error message because my client wasn't patched. Make sure you've got the latest patch running, or maybe decal just doesn't recognize it if you've installed decal but haven't logged in. I'd log in, log out, then hit update on your decal, may fix some of the problems.

Thanks for the reply but none of that works. I can log into AC and have the current patch but when I bring up decal it says my AC Client is out of date and nothing will update. BEFORE I reinstalled Decal it worked fine (ie yesterday) except for Virindi Tank. Now I cannot use decal at all?

a) What OS are you running and if it's vista or later, did you install it outside of the default directory?

b) Where's your export? Without an export it's like calling a doctor and saying that your big toe hurts and expecting them to tell you what's wrong with it.

"a) What OS are you running and if it's vista or later, did you install it outside of the default directory?"

As I stated in OP I am running Windows 7. I have no idea what a default directory is? It worked perfectly until I quit playing this summer then I fired it up again yesterday. Except for Virindi Tank it worked perfectly YESTERDAY.

I have no idea what an export is.

The standalone version of Virindi Tank is currently not functional due to changes related to void magic. Only the bundle version works.

If you do not want all the stuff in the bundle, you can always install it and then uncheck the other plugins in Decal.

Thanks! Installing the bundle fixed my Virindi tank problem on my other computer.

But on the computer in question I have still somehow totally screwed up Decal by trying to reinstall it it. If anyone could please explain how to fix whatever I screwed up by reinstalling I would greatly appreciate it. I am not knowedgeable in any way or facet of the workings of a computer. When people speak of default directories or exports I am 100% clueless.

Decal DID work on this computer for years even as recently as yesterday. If anyone could give me a step by step way to get it back to that I would really appreciate it.

There are directions in the sticky post at the top of this board, about 4 posts down. Read them and follow them exactly and if you are confused by what any of the steps mean just ask questions.

Thanks. I am guessing you refer to this???

1. New install of Windows 7 - 64bit

2. Download and install all updates for Win7

3. Download and install the Asheron's Call client from http://ac.turbine.com and click on "Client Download"

3a. While installing, be sure to change the install path from "C:\Program Files (x86)..." to "C:\Games" This is VERY IMPORTANT

If you have copies of the current client_cell_1.dat, client_highres.dat, client_local_English.dat, and client_portal.dat, copy them to the directory that you installed to.

4. Launch AC, log in and update to ensure that you have successfully installed AC. Answer "Allow Access" to any firewall messages that pop up.

5. Install DirectX 9.0c

6. Install Decal

6a. Again, it is VERY IMPORTANT to change the install path during the install. Change it from "C:\Program Files (x86)" to something like "C:\Games"

7. Find Decal running in your system tray. Right click, and select close.

8. Right click on Decal on your desktop, and select "Run as administrator"

9. Right click on Decal in your system tray, and select "Configure".

10. When prompted stating that "One or more of your XML files were not found!", click on the OK button

11. Click on "Update" and wait for the window to refresh with black checks instead of red x's.

12. Again, load Asheron's Call to ensure that you have no problems logging onto the server. This time, you should actually enter the game to ensure that Decal is loading properly. You should see the decal bar with the DHS icon in the upper left corner.

If these are the directions to which you refer my question is this

6a. Again, it is VERY IMPORTANT to change the install path during the install. Change it from "C:\Program Files (x86)" to something like "C:\Games"

How do I do this?
