Reinstalled AC/Decal/ACDC - got eeeeverything set to run as Admin/xp2 compat (ACDCClient in ACDC path, and both main and copied folders of acclient, ACDCClient, aclauncher, even desktop shortcuts) - same error.

Shotgun approach, nada.

*thunk*

When you reinstalled ACDC did you get a message about enabling performance counters?

I had a similar problem.. How i got mine working was to run it all in compatability mode with Vista, and not XP.

Yup? Went away after I disabled UAC. Was trying to hunt down a fix, but didn't see one?

You should get a message about the performance counters. Did you hit yes to enable them? Its possible your performance counters are corrupt, but I can't remember which file it is right now. I had to copy the file from another computer to this one to fix it.

Initially, yes. I'd have to hit it every time to enable them before I killed UAC.

Is this a file I can get off my XP drive? Installed Win7 on a new drive, so can still boot into the old setup. Or if it's Win7 specific, got a couple systems running it around here. Tried to Google out the info, can't find it.

1. Copied PerfStringBackup.ini out of C:\Windows\System32\ from a happy Win7 64 Ultimate box

2. Pasted to C:\Windows\System32\ folder - original around 845K, new copy around 640K. Looked promising.

3. Opened a command window into System32 folder and ran "lodctr /rerfstringbackup.ini" from command line. Returned response. Also promising.

Rebooted. Tried ACDC, same thing. Changed all compats from XP/sp3 to Vista/sp2 and back to XP/sp2 - no change.

Nice find though, Saloben

I'm almost thinkin reformat at this point. So far, haven't installed anything but AC and drivers pretty much. Gonna hop in game for a few. Kill rabbits. They're the root cause of all things evil. Turbine made 'em orange for a very good reason. We just don't know it yet.

ya know, I've installed ACDC along with 5 clients and about 10 plugins multiple times, and I've never had as many problems as the people here. I follow the same steps every time, and have never had to disable UAC, or try to figure out what's not working right. The steps I follow are in the thread in the sticky.

31.4 Waited for head rush to dissipate.

32. Reinstalled ACDC just to get in game for a bit.
