After still getting a list of red x's, closing Decal and reopening/updating I eventually uninstalled then re-installed Decal. Tried reparing all plugins, removing and then re-installing a few also but nothing seems to change. :/

Though I can log into game fine without Decal if I log in now no decal shows up, whereas before re-installing I got the following error when I tried to log a character into the game: acclient has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Any help would be appreciated

I figured that but even after re-installing the plugins it's the same.

Should I just go through regedit and delete anything related to decal then start again? I don't know nearly enough about how to resolve this issue any other way.

This happened to me after I installed the new beta, found out i couldn't use it at all, and then tried to downgrade. All my plugins showed up as red X's except for maybe 2 or 3, and when I launched AC decal did not show up in the client. I spent HOURS trying to fix this, ultimately I actually did a system restore to before the point that I upgraded to the beta, and that actually fixed it to my surprise.

Nuking the HKLM\Software\Decal registry key after uninstalling Decal may fix it. Unfortunately, something is not functioning properly in the Decal.Adapter surrogate for you -- this is leading to all of the red x and <No Version>s on plugins. Sometimes Windows updates have caused this problem, sometimes it's a problem with multiple versions of the PIAs being installed into the GAC (or multiple copies of the Decal.Adapter surrogate).

If you don't mind downloading the .NET Framework SDK, it comes with a tool that lets you look at the GAC. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=fe6f2099-b7b4-4f47-a244-c96d69c35dec&displaylang=en&pf=true

If you install it, you can use Admin Tools -> MS .NET Framework Configuration

then choose Manage the Assembly Cache

View List of Assemblies in the Assembly Cache

Scroll down to the Ds and see if there are repeating entries for any Decal component.

I am having the same issue as the first person with the decal file service showing <no dll>. I uninstalled decal and made sure there were no references in the registery. I installed the SDK and looked at the assembly cache for .Net 1.1 and 2.0 and neither are showing any reference to decal in the assembly.

This started after uninstalling the Beta version of decal and installing the release version.

So you don't have Decal.FileService or Decal.Interop.Anything installed in the Assembly Cache?

Go down to the Ps and look for policy.2.9.Decal and see if there are any entries for that.

Nothing in 1.1 or 2.0 that says decal at all. I do not see that policy number in 2.0 at all. The last one listed is Policy.1.7.Microsoft.lnk.

I sent you the exported list from Net 1.1 and 2.0. I hope you can read it. If not let me know and I will find another way to get it to you.

Do you have any of the following files in your C:\Program Files\Decal 3.0 directory?

Decal.Adapter.dll

Decal.FileService.dll

Decal.Interop.XXXXX.dll (there are number of these)

policy.2.9.Decal.Adapter.dll

policy.2.9.Decal.FileService.dll

policy.2.9.Decal.Interop.XXXXX.dll (there are a bunch of these too)
