I'm pretty sure it has to do with my current low magic skill, since my skill level is theoretically too low to cast level 7 spells. But the interesting part is that it seems you can always learn level 7 spells, no matter your magic skill. (This isn't the case for level 6 and below scrolls)

Now I'm hunting Fiuns and they drop alot of level 7 scrolls, but VT wont pick them up. Is there any option to force VT to loot and learn 7 scrolls?

There is an option in the advanced settings/looting, I believe. It's default setting is on, though.


You have to have the magic skill trained before vtank will pick the spells up though.

I checked the advanced settings a couple times, but didn't find anything that would solve the problem.

To me it looks like the value "15 below the spell difficulty to loot and learn a scroll" is hard coded, and not adjustable in the advanced dialog. Anyways, this setting is definitively not needed for level 7 scrolls. My noob level 30 mage is able to learn level 7 scrolls.

Under Advanced Settings/Looting.........ReadUnknownScrolls.....


Make sure that is set to True.


Also, does ur level 30 mage have all magic skills trained and foci for them?

That option is turned on, and it does read level 6 scrolls and below. It just doesn't loot and read the level 7 scrolls, because my magic skill for level 7 scrolls is too low. BUT the magic skill does not seem to matter for level 7 scrolls. What I was trying to say is that even my level 30 mage is able to read and learn level 7 scrolls, although his magic skills are very low. He can barely cast level 4 spells.

To summarize: VTank expects your buffed magic skill to be 285 to loot and read lv 7 scrolls. But this is definitively not needed, any char can read lv 7 scrolls, not matter the skill (skill must be trained of course).

MY hunch is that it is a coding short cut subroutine formula based as you say on skill and scroll levels written long before lvl 7s, AND doesn't take into account the exception for lvl 7 scrolls.


give VI a holler mentioning this and She may just adjust this. pray to the vtank goddess and she may respond.

I talked to Virindi about this one time, and there was a specific reason (that I don't precisely recall) why she couldn't code the looter to read and learn all level 7 scrolls regardless of skill level, even though the game actually allows you to do this. I believe she said she would have to manually input the name of each scroll, which would be difficult because of the very awkward manner in which some of the scrolls are named.

Simple way to get it to learn em is to set the spelldiff threshold to like -80.

Spelldiff threshold has nothing to do with the scroll looter. That does not work.

If you lower that setting, it will pick up 7's and learn them.
