Hello,

Ive been trying to run Asherons Call Dual client, or acdc for short for a few days now. Nothing I do seems to be getting it to work though. I always run into the error, "There is a client already running on this machine. It is not possible to run two clients on the same machine. Please use the already running client."

When I run acdc to open just one client, decal wont load through it either (even with the load decal button pressed).

Ac is installed to d:/ac/
Decal is installed to d:/decal/
Dual client software is installed to d:/dualclient/

I am running windows xp.

I have checked/unchecked every single button on acdc software and decal, and have run tests using all the configurations I can think of. I did clean install of asherons call/decal/acdc and have installed, uninstalled, and updated all the files that acdc needs to run (microsoft installer, vb libraries, and the rest of the stuff on the acdc website sidebar).

Here is the decal export from right after I have clean installed decal, ac, and acdc. Would be great if you guys could help me figure out whats wrong!

When you installed ACDC did you get a message about enabling performance counters?

Are you pointing ACDC to the correct paths for the AC.exe files in each seperate folder?

AC should be installed as:

D:/TurbineGames/AC

D:/TurbineGames/AC2

Etc, etc.

Also, when running XP, you can install everything into their default folders.

My clients were setup like this:

D:/AC/
D:/AC/2/
D:/AC/3/
D:/AC/4/
etc

I am currently reinstalling acdc to copy everything like this:

D:/AC1/
D:/AC2/
D:/AC3/
D:/AC4/
etc

Ill tell you guys if it works or not.

have you tried hitting the "find Path" button before logging in the second account ?

Have you pointed ACDC to all paths you have ac installed to ?

As was mentioned earlier, using Win XP you should be able to install AC to the default locations (C:\program files\turbine\asheron's call - throne of destiny). Same goes for Decal - I notice you are using the beta decal version. You might try running the "tried and true" release rather than the beta and see if that helps. Also, I recommend you update your video drivers - the one you are running is from 2009. It's always a good idea to have those up to date - especially with Decal

If you are going to run decal, make sure you can log into AC with ONLY decal running first. This will produce a decal bar with nothing but its hotkey system icon on it. If you have this going ... onward!!

Your export looks like you have all necessary stuff to make Dual Client happy, so completely uninstall it, down to the additional clients you created. The reason for this is that Dual will create and copy for you. Dual can be very picky about where things are at times, so let it call the shots on that (unless there is a specific reason for you NOT to want the defaults).

When you install Dual Client, and run it for the first time, it will ask how many clients you want to run. I usually set Dual on my system (also Win XP) to run 3 clients. Dual will next ask if you want it to copy files - allow it to do so for you. After this is done, try to log in first client (I recommend doing this step without Decal running - we are checking to see if Dual Client itself is happy and functioning properly). It should load up without any problem. Now try to load a second client - again without Decal. If you can get both clients up and running, Dual is good to go (I also recomment playing in a window, but that is totally up to you).

Exit completely out of both clients, and fire up Decal. Again log in the first account. If you have any problems, something is haywire with Decal. If you can get the first client loaded, you should be ok from there. Let us know how it goes

Ashake, I tried out your suggestions and ACDC still does not work. I am at wits end.
