I posted this information in a thread a while back but I see no one really read it, so here goes.

You don't need to install Decal outside of Program Files. It doesn't accomplish anything, it doesn't affect anything. If you have Decal installed in Program Files, the only difference is that you will have a UAC prompt when you update Decal.

You should install AC outside of Program Files because Decal can't inject into a process running from Program Files without administrative privileges. Many plugins also write to their own plugin directory and those should be installed outside of Program Files so they can run under your normal user account without administrative privileges.

It is probably buffme. That plug in has not been updated in many years. Last I heard it was not functioning.

Sounds like you ran Decal as administrator once, so the non-virtualized HKLM registry hive has Decal entries that are stale and don't match up with your virtualized HKLM registry hive.

If you are going to uninstall, I suggest running the DecalRegClean utility available at http://skunkworks.sourceforge.net/misc/CleanDecalReg.exe
