I would suspect one of your plugins. Start turning them off one by one to test. Start with the ones not in my list below...

One thing I noticed with 2.9.6.5 over 2.9.6.4 is the tabs using the old decal views now seem to be page links. They've lost their tab look.

I have exactly the same issue with 2.9.6.5 and did not with 2.9.6.4.

I could be wrong but it seems the issue is that the Decal interface Skin *.BMPs required for the tabbed interface were not included in the installer for 2.9.6.5.

hmm, i have the same missing tabs, but i'm not sure i want them back. anybody else notice a slight improvement in performance while a older decal views plugin is on the screen?

just installed 2965 on an xp machine and noticed the following issues:

Ah, yes, i forgot to mention that this release breaks plugin manager. I will need to update it to work properly... (i forgot)

Looks like MakeIt is not installed, which is part of the reason it's broken

While poking around in the old code see if it is feasible to shutdown
the forwarding of messages after terminate is sent to plugins.
Just wondering if this may be the cause of some of the Toon Switching CTDs.

we can't fix broken plugins. not gonna try either.
